If you are close to your boss they maybe concerned about you, so they may enquire. If you aren't close than just say you are sick and you'll be back tomorrow.

It depends upon what your leave policy is. Some companies call it PTO -- personal time off. You can take off for anything and not have to tell them why. Check your employee handbook for the type of policy you have.

you can give you boss a BRIEF overview,(ie i dont feel well because i have the flu) You boss doesnt need to know your throat is sore,you are sneezing and throwing up TMI! Keep it brief and let them know when you will be returning!!
