Ok here is the story. I have my modem and my router in my dining room. My 1st and 2nd pc's are also in my dining room connected to the router.

I was wondering if it would be possible to put a second router in a separate room which connects to the 1st router. The 2nd router would connect to my 360 and 3rd pc. What I am asking is, is it possible to connect two routers together and still get a internet connection for my 360 and 3rd pc?

I have a wired connection and here is a diagram, http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/9264/routerqy2.gif .

I also could just use a hub for my 3rd pc and xbox 360 but the connection is always halved even if one system is off, a router allows for connections only when the system needs it.

Yes.

But you do not need to. Buy an Ethernet switch, it will allow connections between all PCs and the internet and will be cheaper than a router.

Adding a router will be more expensive and add extra latency between the XBox and the internet.

You won't need another router. What you need is a hub or network switch. Think of your router as your doorway to the Internet. You only need one doorway.

On the back of your router you should have 4 or 5 RJ-45 network ports available. You can use those ports to plug in PCs, Printer servers, or any other network device that connects via these RJ-45 plugs. You could also plug in a hub/switch or even a stand alone wireless access point. I, personally have a 24 port switch plugged into my NetGear router which gives me the ability to hook 24 more devices to my network. Something that I can't ever see myself doing but at least they are there if I need them.

you can but sounds to me you are having same problems as me as for connecition being halved sounds like dsl and a cheap router. i am waiting on a call back for a new dsl modem now cause they don't know and i have been setting networls up for years and this is the first issue i seen like this.

so it's dsl modem or router. and if it's a dsl modem it has a router just not a wireless one sound's to me you need to look at modem.
