What type of wire/cable would I need to hook my notebook to my stereo and where on my notebook would I hook up it up to? Would I use my headphone outlet? If you could give the exact cable so I could go to a Bestbuy, Circuit City, Radio Shack etc. and ask for it that would be great. Thanks...

You would use your headphone outlet, since that's the only thing you probably have on your notebook. What kind of cable depends on what kind of a stereo you have. Most stereos don't even have the option for audio input. TVs typically have a red and white cable for audio input, and yellow for video input. Check your stereo for any sort of plugs for audio input - there may not be any.

Assuming that both the laptop and the stereo have the standard connectors...
You need a 1/4 minijack (stereo) to fit into the headset port on the laptop. You would want that cord to split into two RCA jacks to plug into the stereo. Oh - that is assuming the stereo has an audio input. Most do not.

There is 3 ways to hook up to your laptop:1st way use a Headphone to RCA cable,2nd way is to get a FM transmitter,2rd way is to get a Jack splitter and hook up both and just in case if you lose a connection to your stereo.
