Being betrayed more than once by more than one person will fuel distrust in the masses. If you are betrayed several times, you lose faith in the ones that have never done anything to you as well. It is like you are always waiting on the person to betray you. Eventually, you just stop trusting anybody. I hope this helps. This is my way of answering.
