Do you guys think Bloomberg can win the NY electoral vote? He is very popular in NYC. If he wins the NY votes and the other 2 candidates closely split the other 49 states electoral votes, the House of Representatives will elect the President because no one will reach 270 electoral votes (simple majority). Just a thought, let me know your input!

With three canidates in NY, ( assuming Rudy is the GOP) the winner hands down will be Rudy. I live here, I know how ppl really feel about each of those candiates. Rudy is a home grown more down to earth canidate, and as far as NYers are concerned, saved us from more terror than Bush could have ever done. Hillary is a transplant. The only reason why she is even our Senator is because Nyers love Clinton (I being one of them) Bloomberg would only take away votes from Hillary in the popular election, he wouldn't carry the state, he probally wouldn't carry the city.

Bloomberg's biggest problem is that he's a life-long Democrat masquerading as a Republican. Most voters won't be fooled, at least not enough to affect the outcome of the election should he choose to run.

However it wouldn't matter anyway if he did "spoil" NY. If nobody gets 270 votes, the outcome is decided by the House of Representatives. Currently the Democrats control 26 states and Republicans control 20 with the last 4 split. Splits count as abstentions so the Democratic nominee would win 26 - 20 with 4 abstentions. Since the outcome would be determined by the NEWLY reconstituted House, the outcome of the House elections could sway that though most political analysts expect the Dems to maintain their majority or even improve it slightly. Again, advantage to the Democratic nominee.

Should that happen, it gets really messy for the Vice President. The VP would be elected by the Senate on a raw vote, not by state. The Senate COULD elect the VP from the opposing party!

I think he will take the Electoral votes away from Hillary, which could really affect the election. Hillary is relying on the great amount of Electoral College votes coming from New York to help her win as President, and Bloomberg can take away her chances by running as a 3rd party candidate. He could win New York, but nationally, he could not win as most people are not too familiar with him.

Assuming NYC Mayor Bloomberg sets out to run for president, he can make things very interesting especially, in the states of NY, NJ, and CT were there are large numbers of Jewish votes. He is very popular among the Jewish votes as well as the people of NYC. His popularity rating far surpasses former NYC mayor Giuliani .

He could either win NY or put the state in contention for the Republicans if he takes about two million votes.

Its possible especially if disgust for the two parties continues to grow.

I doubt Bloomberg can win nationally, but he could make things interesting in the electoral college.

I would vote for him to spite 41-shots Rudy. Bloomberg is a MUCH better Mayor than that thug Rudy. All Rudy did was drive around at night with his police buddies looking for someone to shove a plunger up their behind.

He isn't running. Nice theory but probably won't happen.
