Here is some clarifying info for ronmac60:

(1) Would you just like to see a beautiful country?
OF COURSE!!!!!
(2) Would you like to visit a culture vastly different from your own?
Yeah I think that I need some varying culture different fom my own. It would be refresing and clensing for my capitalistically stained soul.
(3) Would you like to experience a different climate?
Being that I live in California, having one of the BEST climates in the world, i don't know if i would want something too different, but as i said before, change would be nice.
(4) Would you like to see a view of past centuries? (history)
Maybe.... im not quite sure what this question refers to. i mean that countries don't just disapear from modern history.
(5) Would it matter if nobody spoke English in that country?
It would be nice to go to a place that spoke a little english, but not necessary. I know some spanish.
(6) Would you like to visit a country which would change you whole view of life?
Sure y not?!?!

I just went to New Zealand this year and it was one of the best trips I've ever taken. The people were very open and friendly. It's a great place to go for young people and the hostels werre safe. The country is simply breath taking! Or how about going to Austrailia?

This is no longer a “what if” question with me. I am currently living in Vietnam and loving every minute of it. I went around the world and after looking at 18 different countries this is my choice.

You will never regret it if you come to Vietnam. The countryside varies in terrain from beautiful Beach's to green mountain passes. Hot as can be and cool mountain breezes. Great food, amazingly wonderful people. We stopped our bikes at the end of the road by the river the other day. Out in the middle of no where. In minutes we were surrounded by kids saying "hello, Where you from?" the mothers came out a few minutes later and they are bringing out food and laughing. A few minutes later the men came out bringing the rice wine. We had a full on party going and didn't understand much of what was going on. But... we knew that they were really friendly and they treated us like Rock Stars. Just amazing. Don't miss Vietnam. It will be your best trip ever. I promise.

Currently living in Hoi An Vietnam. Don't miss Hoi An. Its just wonderful!!!.
PS: costs are minimal. Air fare from the US is under $1000 an hotels are in the $10 to $15 range. food is $1 to $5 bucks. what you might spend on a little more airfare is more than made up by the inexpensive services in Vietnam. Hey, You can buy a glass of beer at 15 cents. You just can't beat that!

Angel 1612, you got some great answers but did you notice that all of them gave reasons for THEIR preference and none of them asked how you would base your choice?

So here goes :

(1) Would you just like to see a beautiful country?

(2) Would you like to visit a culture vastly different from your own?

(3) Would you like to experience a different climate.?

(4) Would you like to see a view of past centuries? (history)

(5) Would it matter if nobody spoke English in that country?

(6) Would you like to visit a country which would change you whole view of life?

Tough questions for a 12 year old but perhaps your family can help you.

I was faced with the same question as you are. I chose JAPAN and it changed my whole way of thinking even to this day.

For example, instead of American clutter as most homes are JAPAN is a country of SPARCE ELEGANCE ( as few things in a room as possible but changing the room from time to time. A nice table with just ONE BOWL on it this month and next month a pretty FIGURINE, then next month something elese, never more than OINE article at a time. In down town TOKYO the owners of the stores and restaurants come out at 2 A.M.. and scrub the street
so that the shoppers next day will enter a shiny clean store.

People leave work and go to a public bath where they scrub and wash before enjoying the evening.

I don't mean I do all of these things but it influenced me as to a style of living that is bright and clean and productive.

But if you choose Italy you will fall in love with beauty of colours which you never hear of here at home, colours like sepia and burnt umber, shades of pink and brown that make life a dream.

If you choose Paris you will become a gourmet, a lover of food and music and outdoor fashion.

Wherever you choose, let's all hope it will nourish you mind and make your heart sing.
