I ran an errand early this morning and my car started fine and sounded fine.

Later, I started my car again and it's making this weird weed wacker rumbling vibration sound when the engine revs up as I drive. Another analogy is it sounds like a lawn mower. The "weedwacker" noise gets very loud as I go up in rpms and I don't even have to go full throttle to hear that sound. The engines got merely 70,000 miles on it and I've had it for 2 years. I can't figure it out because I have no experience with cars.

Is it a busted cynlinder or belt somewhere? I have no idea, but it's freaking me out.

As far as I know, the transmission "shifts" fine. But I don't have enough evidence to say it's one way or the other.

It's almost like one of those sounds that you hear with those banged up old Hondas. The sound is a rumbling high pitched whining ronsonating noise. It starts as soon as I press the throttle.

It's coming from the front end of the car, where the engine is...

By the way, when I let go of the throttle, the tachometer goes down to about 1000 to 1500 rpms like it SHOULD and the high pitched whine disappears and when I press the throttle, the sound comes back again.

Might be something as simple as a hole in the muffler, or maybe your muffler fell off? Or you have a hole in your exhaust.

Loud noise doesn't necessarily mean something wrong with the engine.

Is it losing power?

If not, then the headers might have gotten loose - or your muffler is falling off.

Uhm, I think it is problematic, you might just have a problem with your transmission, I had a problem like that too but it was worse I bet. . .
