Eriksson is so far the only manager who was won the Double (League and Cup in the same season), in three different countries, having won it in Sweden, Portugal and Italy.
I didn't rate him much as England manager, but he must be able to do some things right.

Let's look at some facts:
* He was paid something like £25 million only to get England to the quarter finals of three tournaments, despite having some of the most talented players in the world, and some of the best England have had in a long time (a MUCH better squad than Graham Taylor had in 1992). I wonder if Marcello Lippi waspaid as much for actually WINNING the world Cup?
* In five years, and after a lot of friendlies cheapened by mass substitutions, he still had no idea of which players to use and what their strengths were.
* Despite 5 years in charge of pretty much the same crop of players, they were still playing a negative and underwhelming brand of football, not condusive to winning international tournaments.
* He had no idea of his ideal starting line-up, and was still chopping and changing his starting XI during tournaments.
* He didn't seem to have any idea of a Plan B or C even though two were suggested by Bobby Robson in his newspaper column. His back-up tactical plan seemed to be to hoof the ball up to Peter Crouch.
* He took an untried 17 year old to a World Cup (alongside two only partially-fit strikers) with no suitable replacements as back-up even though Bent, Defoe and Heskey were available. Presumably he was expecting Theo Walcott to somehow get the better of players like Buffon, Zambrotta and Canavarro, even though he hadn't even got the better of rubbish Premiership defences. **
* Yes, he does have a formidable record as a club manager, and this looked to be carrying on into his England career (5-1 over Germany, 2-0 over Argentina, 2-0 over Turkey) but then it seemed to stop after Euro 2004. It was as if the manager decided that he had made his money, and thus didn't need to try any more.
** Not that Theo Walcott should be made a scapegoat for Eriksson's failings! A player can't actually renege on an international call-up.
MY VERDICT: I don't think Manchester City will be relegated this season, but they may well be playing a doddery and negative style of football which will see them rooted in mid-table come the final day. More overpaid mediocrity, more dosh down the drain.

Just because English footballers who at the world cup only managed to Match Brazil and Argentina doesnt alter that at club level with day to day coaching of players he has had a lot of sucess which is why he earns the money he does .So only time will tell, first he has to attract half decent players so we can finish top ten and then next season make Europe by getting better players , so the year we can really tell how well he is doing is in the season of 2009/2010.

Excuse me, I think we'll have to beg to differ here. Who was in charge when England thumped Germany, our greatest rivals in their own backyard 5-1? Oh, Sven Goran Eriksson. He took England to 3 quarter finals with a bollocks team in both the European Championships and the 2006 World Cup.
