I can`t tell for girls, but for men I can!
A few thousands years ago, women lips were getting reder when in ovulation period. This was made to attract men during her fertility period. It is why this habit of putting red on their lips has gone through the ages until today. And it is why men still like red lips.

As for girls, their instinct is more complicated than this, since they did not need to know when a man was getting fertile, as men are almost always fertile all the time. So those girls are mostly looking at what makes a man an alpha male! A dominant male that can assure the security of the whole family against nature and other threats. So to detect those males, they are many instinct bases that many women look without knowing that they look at this.

Second, amount of body hair (I admit some like or don`t but it was still an indicator).

So therefore, girls are looking at different things, and it is why that most girls, will not necessarely care about a man physical beauty (face), as it is not the most relevant quality they are looking at to make a man a good male.

I was watching discovery channel and they were dressing less successful guys up and more successful guys down (success based on paychecks). Low and behold it drastically effected the women's perception when ranking the men 1-10. The colour is less important then the look of success. In parts of traditional Africa success is measured by the size of ones belly because if you can eat frequently you must be successful... In the good ole US of A, however it is the colour of success and some had it right, the colour here is green (cash)... but the best way to get her to see green is to wear the right clothes for the situation be it a nice expensive suit, or just the right casual slacks for a day out. Or in some cases it doesn't hurt to slip into a black stretch limo or into a bright red Ferrari. That, to many women, is the colour of success as well! Unfortunately for myself, I'm a jeans and T-shirt kind of guy, but that works for me because I'm an archaeologist so once I'm talking with a lady the look fits the resume.
