We are products of a 5 million year evolution - an extremely long time in which humans lived in very small groups in very dangereous circumstances with a very high rate of children not surviving their first days or months. Producing - and producing as much as possible - were of prime importance for survival.

Each and every new civilisation found other ways to condemn homosexuality.

Now we are in the opposite situation, overpopulation - but you can not erase millions of years that are carved into our genes.

Especially in those of people with a great passion to remain cavemen.

I think I misunderstood this question before, so I'm changing my answer. I'm not sure what you mean by "why is it such a big deal." You mean to homophobic people? But I will say one thing. The term "sexual preference" is a homophobic term because it implies that who we're attracted to is only a voluntary choice, not something innate. In other words, "sexual preference" means that no one really has an excuse to be LGBT because they can simply choose not to be.

The same as why being black or Jewish or some other born-trait was once a big deal in the past. Just as people discriminated against those of another color, so will they discriminate against those of a different sexual orientation, just because it doesn't fit into their ideal "normalacy." Once whites were dominate and hated the blacks for being "inferior," but today the heterosexuals believe they are superior to bi/homosexuals and/or trans-gender/sexuals.

It's a sad fact that humans will always find some reason to hate other humans.

This is what I believe, right or wrong here it is. I believe God mad me Gay for a reason.

Being Gay, Straight, Trans, Bi isn't a choice.

We are all sexual beings. By extension, each of us has a sexual orientation: an enduring attraction — be it sexual, romantic, emotional or affectional — to another person. Sexual orientation, however, varies from one individual to the next and exists on a continuum that ranges from exclusive homosexuality to exclusive heterosexuality. Between these two poles, there exist various forms of bisexuality.

It's thought sexual orientation is likely the result of complex interactions of a number of factors — genetics, cognitive, environmental, and biological.

Sexual orientation is different from sexual behavior: sexual orientation refers to feelings and to self-concept. People may — or may not — express their sexual orientation in their behaviors.

In most people, yes, and their sexual orientation emerges in early adolescence. What's more, there's also considerable evidence to suggest that genetic and hormonal factors play a key role in shaping a person's sexuality.

why is heterosexuality such a big deal, you know since it's all sexual preferences and they choose to be that way right?

Homosexuality is a big deal, because we are here, and we aren't willing to be forced to be silent any longer. We are normal, loving people, and we just want people/the world to realize that! :)

I'm NOT Atheist...but I DON'T agree with the bible. To me, it is totally unnecessary, everything says that EVERYTHING is a sin, which really doesn't make sense to me. Basically, if you want to go to heaven, then you have to sit down and read the bible for the rest of your life. I don't think much of it makes sense, but I don't really care if people disagree. I've thought about this for many years, and I just don't understand why some people are absolutely against Gays, if 'G-d' didn't want people to not have 'temptation' or 'admiration' then he shouldn't of gave us feelings at all. But I'm not TOTALLY against the Christian religion, so I'm sorry if anyone might get 'offended'. But to me, HOMOSEXUALITY isn't that much of a big deal, I just think that homosexuals are the prey of the moment...it's THEIR turn to get picked on...I know that sounds kind of dumb, but you can't say it isn't true. Homosexuals don't bother me, or disrupt MY life. :D

I know that you are trying to be semi supportive but there is a word that you shouldn't use when talking about sexuality. "Preference" Preference implies that homosexuals had a choice. If I had a choice I would be married to a man with 3 kids by now. lol

Well, to be more accurate, it is all about orientation. "Preferences" sounds like people have a choice in the matter.

As orientation is an inborn trait, like eye color and handedness, people should just accept it as yet another human variation, no better or worse than any other.

Thanks for the support!

I'd prefer to live on welfare and drive a Rolls too, but the Bible say "If a man doesn't work, he should not eat."

Choices in sexual expression are all around us. These days, everything is promoted as within the normal range. But society has been desensitized. 30 years ago, homosexuals were all in the closet because of shame. Now NAMBLA is trying to bring pedophilia into the mainstream of society.

My point is that people and societies change.
God's Word never changes and it is His Word that condemns all sin (not just homosexuality).
