When you were in school, why did you get detention?

Or did you ever get detention?
The only time I got detention was because I refused to get dressed for gym!! Why did you serve detention?

About 3 times a week. All kinds of stuff, chewing gum, talking in class, turning the hands of the clock round, when the teacher left the room. Locking the science teacher in the store room. Not wearing my school tie...why girls should wear ties is beyond me. So many things. Happy memories!

I got a spanking in 7th grade for chewing gum and getting caught the third time. My how times have changed I was pretty good at having an erasure throwing party going on when the teacher would leave the room; Spit wads were a specialty. I guess the worse was when I got a food fight going in the cafeteria and there was food everywhere including the ceiling where people had thrown their butter to see if it would stick. Me and the boy that started it had to clean it all up and then wash and wax the floor. I never realized how big that cafeteria was until then. And life goes on. This was 50 years ago. My how time flies when you are having fun. Mmm

I never got detention ... yet! At this new school though they give you detention if you miss a homwork assingment, forgetting to dress or shower for gym, not writing notes, not having you sign each notebook each week, gettig a 70 or lower on a test, not listening in class, forgetting your books to class, skipping a period, skipping school, not taking your locker break, backsassing the teacher, not participating, misbehaving, being late to a class, not answering all the questions on a test, being late or missing an afterschool program for any reason, being late or missing lunch, running in the hallway, being in a different classroom, not staying in your grade hallway, talking in class, writing notes to other students in class, doing the work for a student other than yourself, not getting all of the stuff you need for the school year, not going to a special choice period (ex. music, band,drama ,sports, etc.) and WAY more other stuff! We have a handbook of ways for getting punished, it's 79 pages long!

Lunch detention SUCKS! I've had it before but its not as bad as after school detention. In lunch detention, you miss about 30 minutes. And in after school it interferes with our personal time.

Because i refused to go outside in the winter to do p.e in a p.e skirt, telling a teacher to fcuk off, not going to other detentions, i got caught smoking, i got caught skiving assembly/lessons/whole days(well actually i admitted that if they asked where i'd been so i didn't really get caught), not handing in homework/coursework and i got suspended twice for fighting.
They had saturday detentions at our school!

Sorry, I never did get detention. Never missed a day of school, either. I guess I was the ideal student, or perhaps its just that I got away with whatever I tried to do to undermine the authority, everyday.

When i was in my school, i get detention veri oftenly for being late for school (even for only 5minutes late)!!
And i serve detention bcos the school is such retard people who will double our detention period if we were to skip our detention.
Our detention is 1 hour (and may be doubled) In a fourwalls room like a prison and u must study and cannot speak.

Nowadays our school is becoming more retarded maybe they can't find or afford cleaners,
Our detention is switched to SCHOOL SERVICE whereby you must scrub the walls with no detergents or mop the floor or even toilets...

I got a spanking in 2nd grade......Miss Higgenbotham's class. I had acted up earlier in the week and my desk was moved up next to hers. In the morning during class-opening prayer (Christian school) I was standing by my desk which was by hers. As all the heads were bowed I sorta sat on the edge of her desk and acted like I was playing a guitar. One kid, Randall, looked up and later told the teacher. I got two swats in Mr. Auclair's office, the principal. Thats the only time I got in trouble in school and I never got detention or suspension.

I got detention for stupid reasons. Examples are: Not dressing for phys ed three times (forgot one part of the uniform); being late for class (when I couldn't help it, it was VERY crowded in the halls and I was on the OTHER side from where my class was); talking (about assignments (honestly) with my neighbor); and several more.
