ps...and, if you're a Democrat, do you consider it your solemn duty to lie when people pose this question? Because, you'd HAVE to be lying if you lived through it AND thought he was GREAT!

Carter was a very nice man, but not a very good president if results matter. I didn't like high tax, high interest rates, gas lines, high unemployment, etc.

I'm a Democrat.. I do not lie. However, I will say... i always thought Carter was not a very good president.. even tho of my own party.. I did not like most of what he did.....that was before Bush.. now I know Carter was a saint. Corrupt and crooked found a home in George Bush.. I really do not think we will ever have a president as bad or as dishonest as this one. Or as despised, I might add.. what is his approval rating today... 19% lol lol.

I don't know that I would call Carter a great president, but he was an honest and hard working president. He came to office in a troubled time and did the best that could be done.

I totally agree with those who stated that he was an honest, decent president. He was someone who could be trusted. I think he always tried todo the best he could for ALL Americans. And that's fast becoming an extinct species.

I agree with most of the people here. Carter was a great man. Very intelligent. Very compassionate. Very humane. Certainly the most productive man post presidency. But not political. Too bad, eh?

I don't think he was a great president. But I think he was a decent and honest man, with good ideas who was elected because he was a Washington outsider and then couldn't get much accomplished because he remained a Washington outsider. Now people blame him for his decency and not blowing up other countries.

We got exactly what we voted for so why complain about it.

(Well, I should say "we" since I missed being old enough to vote in 1976 by 2 days).

I remember when Jimmy Carter was president and yes I thought he was a great leader and a giant among men, the problem for Jimmy Carter came because he did not "play" poilitics, he told the american people the truth and they could not handle it. He was preaching conservation of natural resources ie-oil, before it was the "in" thing to do. Jimmy Carter was ahead of his time I think.

I think he was a very good president. He was honest, ETHICAL, moral, and actually thought of what he could do for the country. He tried to bring peace to the mid east and may have succeeded.

He was an Idiot! They're all Idiots! We have not had a President worth a crap since Kennedy and our government had him killed. Well, Reagan wasn't too bad. When can we see a true honest American in the elections?! No more peanut farmers and oil tycoons in government positiions!
