The second baseball game I ever saw, Ewell (the Whip) Blackwell pitched his no-hitter. He pitched eight and a third no-hit innings his next time out, but Eddie Stanky got a scratch hit in the top of the ninth. Announcer Waite Hoyt had a conniption.
Blackie had 22 victories that year, (1947) no mean feat for a fifth place team. He had a streak of consecutive victories, too, 16, I think. His side arm delivery was awesome.
Even better, he rented an apartment across the street from me, but I was too shy to ask for his autograph.

approximately so as (Robinson is genuinely first): Frank Robinson - the ultimate all-around participant in Cincinnati historic previous Joe Morgan - the main disruptive pink ever on base Eric Davis - some injuries robbed him of being much extra constructive than Frank Johnny Bench - ultimate i've got seen at his place Rob Dibble - because of the fact he became nuts and because i might have enjoyed to have the skill to throw a baseball ninety 8 miles an hour Brandon Phillips - i've got watched baseball for fifty years and have in no way seen a 2nd baseman continually make the performs he does Mario Soto - corridor of repute stuff caught on awful communities

Don't forget George Foster, Dave Concepcion, Joe Morgan, and Tony Perez., and the "old left hander, rounding 3rd and heading for home", Joe Huxhall...: )
I enjoyed Glenn Braggs too when he was with them. Always neat to watch him swing so hard at the ball, miss, yet break the bat over his BACK, or actually at the handle. The guy was a beast!
***edit: bucsfan beat me to it...lol...good ones though.
