The state bird of Hawaii is the nēnē, or Branta sandvicensis, also known as the Hawaiian Goose. It is closely related to the Canada Goose. The bird's natural range includes the islands of Hawaii, Maui, and Kauai.

It's the Nene or Hawaiian Goose ... at one point, the state bird had only 7 individuals left in its population, but has been on the rebound since.

Looks like a mini goose, saw it hanging around the parking lot at the top of Haleakala in Maui.
