Bad parenting, only goes so far as well. We now live in a gimme world, breeding a flase sense of entitlement and it is not just the children that have it. It would be nice to revert back to 3 channels on the TV, no video games, more books less fashion magazines, more interaction at the family level instead of getting home and turning on the baby sitter.

while that is very true and at the heart of most problems, but lots of parents took their cue from mr. rogers. face it, he was on public television and that is, according to some, pure and intellectual, what is good for people and educational.

they are darn right when it comes to the asian culture. in homes at report card time, we hear a lot of, its ok you got a c in math, youre just not a math person. while in other cultures its, well, youre just going to have to work harder. bring it up next time. tell me thats not true..... i have heard it a zillion times in my career.

where did he say you had to do your best and work hard to become special? nowhere. if you ask me, generations of parents and schools took mr. rogers' bit of fatherly/grandfatherly advice to extremes and professor chance has hit the nail on the head....
what makes you so special from everyone else anyhow?
