I am pro-choice, pro-gay rights, pro-gun, small government, limited taxes, end the war on drugs, privatized welfare/education.
I have told that I am not Libertarian. I have ton a lot of research into what a Libertatian is, and I feel I indentify as one, but, there are those who state that I am not.
Am I more Independent?
I don't know where I fit.

People, say No I'm not a libertarian on here. I do agree with LuLu with regards to Ron Paul confusing people on what a Libertarian is. I have read his record and it doesn't seem to fit with civil right's issues.

Wow - Fafa - you are finally asking a qustion of some personal value toyourself - this is a good thing for you
Based on some of your answers to other questions I would say you were not a libertarian but that remains to be seen since I dont know much about you
Here is the easiest way to tell if you are a libertarian or not
First - ask yourself - do you believe in freedom of choice of everything so long as you dont initiate force to get it??
Second - ask yourself - are you willing to back that up even if it means you have to chnage some of your current views
If your answer is yes to both of these questions - then you are libertarian - heres why - as a libertarian you have to "live" by your philosophical code - there is no black and white to someone who is a strict libertarian
Now, you could be a little more left with libertarian views or a little more right with libertarian views - these are not bad places to me if they fit your life style - but that wasnt the question - the question was are you a libertarian
So you believe in gay rights - I dont - and I am a libertarian - heres why - gay people are humans - all are born with the same rights - there is NO need to distinguish between gay and non-gay - there is no need to give any "special" rights to gay people that non-gay people dont have - to achieve this - simply get rid of the laws that seperate the two groups
Pro-life - all libertarians are pro-life - we see an abortion as the intiation of force against the fetus that has no way to protect itself and thus you are forcing that baby to die - but that is a moral issue - you seem to be looking at it strictly from a legal point of view - for me - get rid of the laws that make it legal or illegal - let the mother deal with the moral choice
Pro-gun, all libertarians shoudl be pro-gun as they believe they have the right to protect themselves with equal force when someone is attacking them
small government - liberatrains believe that government shoudl be limited to the powers granted to it in the constitution and thats it - nothing more - nothing less - our current government has drastically overstepped its bounds - a lot of libertarains are up in arms abotu it - you shoudl be too - not because your a libertarian but because they are not suppose to be doing what they are doing - NEVER TRUST YOUR GOVERNMENT
Limited - LOL - ALL TAXES are theft the government ran for nearly two hundred years without income taxes as we know them today - while th egovernment does have the right to tax that which it controls - it does not have the right to step outside the constitution and tax the labor of its citizens - yeah - heard the arguements and to everyone who disagrees I recomend you read the law first
End the war on drugs - certainly - the use of drugs is a personal choice - the government shoudl not be involved in any of your own personal choices - who the heck are they to tell you how to live your life
privatize welfare/education - you shoudl privatize anything the government has control over - the government doesnt kow a damn thing about the market and anything they touch they screw it up
re-evaluate what you believe in - does it meet these things (your pro choice stance, your pro gay rights stance)...if it does then you are a libertarian - if it does not then you need to decide to keep what you have or change so that your personal philosophy becomes your way of life
Want to talk more about it - feel free to drop me an email or contact me via IM - willing to help wherever I can

You seem to be libertarian on the issues you list. Of course, it depends on the *reasons* for your answers, too.
It is unclear why someone would tell you you're not libertarian. It may simply be definitional misunderstandings. E.g. As you see from some answers above, some people think "pro-gay rights" means that you think gays should have special rights over and above normal individual rights. That seems silly to me; it means (for most people) that gays should enjoy the same rights as everyone else. Also note that on the abortion issue, libertarianism is ambiguous, i.e. libertarians can disagree since they disagree on whether a fetus is a full-fledged "person" with general moral rights.
It may be that someone denied that you were a libertarian based on some issue you didn't list above. E.g. I know a lot of people who claim to be libertarian, but want the State to forcibly prevent freedom of travel and residency (i.e. they're "anti-immigration"). These are nationalist statists, and not libertarians. Another example: Are you for nationalization of health insurance (aka socialized medicine)? If you support such plunder, redistribution and regulation, than you are not libertarian on this issue.

That depends what you mean by 'libertarian'. If you mean your beliefs are the same as those of the Libertarian Party, then you might well not be. If you mean you are a libertarian in general, then yes, you sound like you probably are.

No, no. You are very much a Libertarian. Your views fall very much under that ideology. These people who say they you are not are the Ron Paul supporters. He claims he's one, and people beleive this is what a Libertarian is. It's not.

The only person who can determine if you are a Libertarian is...you. If you want to be one, then join the party; if not, then don't.
However, your views match the views of many who declare themselves to be Libertarians.

Everything except special Rights for Gays would make you a libertarian.
A libertarian is for equal Rights for all, and special Rights for no one.
