I've tried multiple times to put in a tampon, but everytime I try, I get it in, then get scared that it won't come out... and faint. I'm afraid that I'll never get off of pads! And, I'll never be able to swim with my period :[ It's not the putting in part that scares me, the part that scares me is taking it out. It's that one part where it feels like a suction cup [sorry about the details], and I feel like its stuck. And all this is with EXTRA SLENDER.
please help!
PS - I am really petite, and I think that I'm just too small to use a tampon...?

Well if you can insert it properly and its comfortable there is nothing to worry about.
The only reason your tampon won't come out is if it hasn't absorbed enough, in that case leave it in a little longer. There is nothing else that could prevent it from coming out. It can't get "lost" in there because there is nowhere else for it to go! The only way out is your vagina. Just take the string and gently pull it out when its filled.
You're not too small if you can get it in, which you can. Your only problem is that you worry so don't worry because there is nothing to worry about! Remember, you have to *relax* when putting it in and taking it out. As long as you do that there won't be any problems.
Good luck :)

I had the same fears. But it is way more comfortable to wear a tampon, so take a deep breath and make sure you are putting the tampon in the right angel. It says to point it a lil toward the back so it goes in smoothly. Dont think about it. Do it quickly and get it over with. If you are stressing, wait a while or a day and then try again. It took me several tries, but when you get it you will be so relieved because it isnt bad at all. Try the slim fits tampons first. Hope that helps.

The first time I started using tampons, I "hurt myself". I wasn't using the right absorbency for my flow. And then with something being inside me, I was TERRIFIED of "germs" so I'd try and change it every hour or so.
I had to realize that a tampon is not like a pad. You don't have to change it as much. 4-8hrs is fine my OB says. Being petite is not a problem b/c tampons are made to contour to our own personal shapes! There's nothing to be embarrassed about!
Good Luck! :-)

If you need some reassurance that the tampon will come out what you need to do is just gently tug on the string before you insert. I have never had a problem with that before, even when I've had to take it out before it soaked.
Your physical size should have nothing to do with whether you are able or not to use a tampon. I suggest you just relax, it's not going to get stuck or lost. Trust me. You'll get used to them and realize that they're much, much better then pads.

It's not embarrassing to have a fear of tampons. The reason why you can't pull the tampon out is because you are nervous. You need to RELAX in order for the tampon to come out. If you are all tensed up your muscles will clench and hold it in. Take a few breaths before taking it out...think of something else if you need to.
No one is too small to use a tampon...it fits when you put it in...but like I said...you need to RELAX when you take it out. The suction feeling isn't going to go away...that is what it feels like...but don't be so scared of them.

No, you are not too small to use a tampon. We are wonderfully stretchable down there, think of giving birth. Just relax, they ALWAYS come out and I've been using them for 30 years. Once, I forgot I had one in, and put another one in, they still both came out just fine. I've very small too, so I know your concern, but there is no reason to be concerned. My daughter never even started with pads, I think they are totally gross and unsanitary, so she started with tampons right away and she's been just fine with them. Just change them every four hours and don't worry about it.

It probably isn't saturated enough. Either leave it in a little longer (8 HOURS MAXIMUM) or get a smaller absorbency.

I wonder if you have heard of other dangers concerning their use and that is what is subconsciously making you faint. After all, there are some real dangers, but they don't happen often. I think you can shrewdly manage this in other ways. Have you consulted with your gynecologist?
