I live in an area where farming is the way of life. For the last few years it seems like the more big city people come into the area, the more protesting there is on the local farmers and their livelihood. Turkey, pig and dairy farms are most farmers why of life here but now when you drive down one of our county roads you see signs reading "NO MORE(whatever type of farm)! THEY STINK!" 99% of the signs come from families that have moved from a major city to the country for a more "peaceful" home life.
Where do people think the food comes from when they go to the store and buy it? Do they think that it just magically appears for them to buy? The country smells expecially in the hot days of summer when the sun is heating up the "waste" on the farms.
Now people are complaining of cows "mooing" into the wee hours of the night and calling the cops on the farmers that have them.
Why move the the country if you can't stand the byproducts of where your food comes from?

LOL, those from Urban cultures have no clue what happens beyond the confines of their cities....and when they leave their cities, they seem to think it quite natural to destroy the countryside they move too and make it just like the city they left.
Even better is those that purchase a house in the flight path of an airport, and then want the airport to shut down so they don't have to hear the planes taking off and landing. It makes no sense, but it happens all the time. Never underestimate the stupidity of large groups of people.

Yes, I would have to say ignorance plays an important part in this. Most people think the country is a quiet, vast place where you can escape to, but when you got farms and animals, that's different. I can understand that some people have a while to adapt to certain sounds and noises. Putting up signs is idiotic; you can't silence nature that way.

I don't know what to suggest besides talking with your town hall or inviting some of these families to talk about the farmland. But if some of these people are stubborn and refuse to adhere, that's on them. You shouldn't have to feel threatened. Maybe they'll leave.

People are ignorant. Take down the signs and continue living your life, because if those people were really looking for a more peaceful way of life, they would shut their traps and pick up a pitch fork to start bailing hay and actually working for their keep. Farmers are some of the more dedicated and hard working people in America.

I give props to all farmers. It's a mission to run a farm...

It's a really sad thing isn't it? People try to move into a fantasy without really checking out what they are getting into. And the developers sell it to them knowing this and have no shame. After all, they got their money, so who cares?

I agree,
They should just stay in the city and smell and breathe
smog if they can't handle country life as it's meant to be.
