This question is about black males. Pleaser stop comparing whites and blacks. I know whites commit crimes, but I am asking a specific question. Just because whites commit crimes, that does not mean blacks should be let off the hook

I want to commend you for having the guts to put violent blacks on the spot. Regardless of what people choose to believe, there is a growing violent subculture in the black community that is ravaging our neighborhoods, schools and lives, in general. People are simple minded and as soon as they hear anything that remotely sounds negative toward blacks, they get all emotional and offended. I'm not that way. I grew up in Detroit and i'm 30. I've seen the demise. When I was growing up, Detroit was a pretty OK place to live. Didn't have to worry about drive-bys or drug dealers on the corner. Didn't have to worry about getting carjacked or robbed at the bus stop. Things have definitely changed and anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves. There is a difference in the white communities, even among the degenerates of their race. For some odd reason, even the lower class whites have a bit more decency, it seems, than lower class blacks. I've been to lower class white neighborhoods at night with not problems. Lower class black neighborhoods is a totally different story. I have to clutch my purse, look in every direction imaginable so that I won't get robbed. And, if a thug tries to hit on me, I'd better be nice as hell or I just might get cursed out or worse. And, don't give me that crap. I've seen it and been a victim of it and i'm sick of it! One time, back when I was on a pool league, a thug tried to pick up on me and although I was as gracious as I could be, he was infuriated and tried to get some hoodrats to jump on me.

Yes, it's being passed down from one trifling generation to the next with no end in sight. If you see a family that's ghetto and trifling, the next generation will probably be the same. It's sad and it will be our downfall unless people like you talk about it more.

kudos.

I think we need to educate young black males about life in general. There are a lot of factors that make people do what they do...
First, you mentioned parenting. That is a huge factor. I know many males who came from a single parent (female-headed household) and turned out okay. They know how to respect females and they also know right from wrong. Of course I know many on the opposite side of that as well.
I also think that rap and hip-hop culture plays a role in the development of young men. Without a father figure, they are likely to become enamored with the lifestyle, the bling, the girls, the money and they want to achieve what they see in the videos. Someone needs to tell them that that's not reality. Not even close! I do think that young black males hold onto the dream of an ideal life that's not realistic. Everyone wants to be a basketball/football star or a rapper. They quit school chasing this pipe dream and find out that the real world is not easy. It's not "diamonds on my wrist". So then what? Become a dope boy. Get involved in petty crimes b/c they cannot or don't want to do anything else. It's sad.
We need to reel our kids back in and make education the basis of achievement - not Hollywood or rap albums.

A good education is the key to opening a lot of doors and getting a good job, with a decent boss, and a great salary. parenting is also important. Having a family that stays together and supports each other is essential. If the dad leaves this is often detremental to both the dad and the family that gets left behind.

Finally I think that the "Gangsta", Crime Mob image created by the hip-hop artists, celebrities, and pro-athletes causes a lot of the problems in society. These rich celebrities create the illusion that getting an education is bad, or reporting violence to the police is wrong, and being part of a gang that degrades women, deals drugs, and loves violence is good.

Why don't you ask questions about white crime statistics? Why is it all you white males ever do is fill up the forum with your hate and prejudice against Black people?

You're very hateful and shouldn't be even using this forum to spew your hate. Where are your whites criminal statistics?

Why always Black Black Black? Do whites do anything wrong? Slob! I am pasting your message along with many other hatemongering posts in hopes that Yahoo and you will be sued. So far I have 243 pages of hate and bigotry against you and Yahoo.

from time to time it is the ambience we live in or are around. it is not any longer neccesarily the mothers and fathers fault. i've got self belief an excellent type of the subjects with infants right now, stem from the lack of self-discipline wherein human beings are allowed to supply their infants. i do no longer think in actual baby abuse, yet a swat on the butt is going alongside way. It constructive did whilst i became a baby. i assumed two times approximately doing it returned. we've an excellent type of those specialists telling us, we will not self-discipline our childrens bodily, and an excellent majority of those specialists probable in no way had teenagers or became bodily abused as infants. i've got self belief for people who have been abused. i might knock the crap out of somebody who became abusing their baby. I recommend it, yet there's a distinction in infants in comparison from now and a couple of a protracted time in the past, and from 2 a protracted time in the past to 30 years in the past. the international is shifting too quickly. How long has it been on account which you asked your baby, if each thing became very nicely. Now it fairly is in simple terms my opinion, and that i'm no longer attempting to offend all of us. I in simple terms ought to make that sparkling.

I think it is very difficult for children without a father whatever colour or race they might be. I also believe that a lot of parents are taking the easy way out these days and letting the children do what they like .... letting them bring themselves up. It is not easy being a good parent as you have to lay down rules and regulations and give love at the same time.

I agree with you. Committing crime is not a "black thing," but as you said, a lot of problems stem from bad parenting.

My father died when I was 11, and my mother never remarried.

I have four younger siblings, two of whom are brothers -- one of them was only 2 when my dad died.

But my mother is a great and strong woman, and we had lots of support from other relatives as well as friends. Thank God, we all turned out okay.

Mind your own business, for one. You have no clue what leads any child astray. America is full of children who, while not in prison are maladapted, meth-heads, cheaters, liars, etc. They are not of any particular race, class or socio-economic group AND have their fathers at home. If you want to help Black children, first help yourself to a few books, seminars and conferences on the subject from like-minded individuals. This issue came up at the turn-of-the-century and again in the 1960s. Almost every American psychologist, including Daniel Patrick Moynihan took a stab at the problems of young Black males with "no direction". I do commend your desire to help, but please note that no Black child who is in jeopardy of becoming "a part of the system" is interested in you feeling sorry for or looking down on them. These are not walking stereotypes, my friend, but living, breathing children, who can see straight through well-meaning attempts at placing Band-Aids over bullet wounds.
