It depends if you are are a performing animal and you are getting upstaged by that octopus who can open a jar on its own using it's tenticles to get the food out. Or if you are a person who was molested by a rampaging Octopus, or even an animal who's mum was eaten by an octopus in the Summer of 69 or if you are a religious cult against octopi or.. ok I'm going to stop now.

It depends how you use it.
Like, if you met someone who had a genetic mutation and had 4 arms and 4 legs, and you angrily shouted, "You look like a frickin octopus!" then it would be offenSive.
But, if you were at an aquarium with your friend and saw a real octopus in a tank, you might say with curiousity, "Hey, look at the octopus!" and there wouldn't be anything offensive about it.
