Here you have a bunch of rich, pampered musicians and famous people (Al Gore included) traveling in private jets and over-sized limos telling us about the 7-point program to cut back and save energy. Why should we make the sacrifice when they aren't willing to do so. So what if they play a song or two and get paid big bucks for for it. The tickets aren't exactly cheap (except in Brazil - free).

Are Al Gore, Madonna, the Beastie Boys, Metallica etc entitled to pollute the world more than we are? Isn't this hypocritical?

It would be easier to listen and believe what they say if they walked their talk.
Peace.

It might be. However, the idea is to raise awareness of the problem of global warming - not to have stars give up their travel arrangements, and some of those travel arrangements might be necessary. Can you imagine what would happen if Madonna tried to take a commercial flight anywhere? Whe would be mobbed, the airport security would proabably be overwhelmed, and who knows what other problems there might be. Sometimes when you are in a position of extreme fame you just can't do things the way the so-called "average joe's" do them because it isn't practical. Still, I think you DO have a point. When we all have our own private jets maybe things will be better... where's mine?

Sure they are. But isn't everyone a hypocrite?

It's also a pointless waste of money. Make you feel better? They could have used what they're spending on this to invest in alternative and renewable energy sources.

But then, I'd never trust a politician to make decent, common sense decisions.

Yes. But they are going to plant a tree to off set the carbons used. They can buy some of my carbon's I have lots of extras, I'll sell them real cheap! They really should have used arists that were already where they were going to play, so they didn't have to fly all over.
