To me, as a libertarian, I feel that the democratic congress is doing nothing, but the republican congress seemed to be actively trying to destroy my way of life.
Nothing beats bad something.

The Republicans actually accomplished a lot. It is easy to get legislation through with a clear majority and a "rubber-stamp" President. The Democrats could do more with their slim majority if they had a Democratic President.
In order to advance an agenda, the Congress and President need to be on the same page. Currently, they are not.
The Republican congress did a lot, little of it worthwhile. The current Congress is unable to do anything worthwhile due to a slim majority and the President's threatened veto on every piece of forward-thinking legislation with no chance to overturn it.
I don't expect any signifigant legislation to pass until after 2008, either with a new Democratic President or a greater Democratic majority in the Senate and/or Congress.
Both are/were horrible, but for different reasons. At least the current one isn't bankrupting us.

The dems! Yeah the wimpy republicans did next to nothing but these dems are trying to screw us over. They tried 3 times to pass a bill that would basically cripped the freedom of speech for non-profit groups. If a conservative or liberal or any group including radio programs or even churches or a non-profit group talked about any political subject without filling out paperwork stating who/what they talked about then that non profit would be fined 100s of 1,000s of dollars and could face prison time! They tried to pass this law 3 times but thankfully were stopped. This congress really sucks!

Very good question >star<
Paraphrasing what someone else said, doing nothing is worse than doing something with a poor outcome.
While Congress has been grasping at straws pretty much since the early 90's, they simply aren't acting on behalf of the American people.

The congress is barely in Democratic control and there are some conservative Democrats that know what side their bread is buttered and the cooks are the corporations. I think the people expect more out of this congress.

Learn to read.
No congress since polling began has ever had lower approval ratings than this one.
The only thing with worse ratings than the President right now is the Demagogue-controlled House and Senate.
Nice try, though...

the old one that passed every piece of garbage that BUsh wanted and ran up the deficit to astronomical levels.
At least the current congress isn't screwing us any further. If they can't pass legislation, they can't spend money and they can't push us further into debt. When it comes to congress, I almost rather that they do nothing, than spend and borrow to no end.

This is the way it hasbeen and will continue to be for some time to come.
The Republicans were the worse congress, they basically gave the President a rubber stamp to do whatever he wants and that destroys the checks andbalances that makes this country a true Democracy. The Democrats are an indecisive second worse congress but they will always be the lesser of the two evils...but they're still evil.

The only good news: no really bad bills have been passed. I am a conservative. Unfortunately, when the Republicans ran the show, we got campaign finance reform and Medicare prescription drug benefits. It seems the Dems get their way when not in power.
