A lot of my bigger changes have happened over night... but when that happens, it is usually something outside of a conscious decision.
As ridiculously odd as it sounds, I had a dream one night that a circle of people were healing my lungs, I woke up that morning and stopped smoking.
After years of feeling guilty for eating animals but feeling I couldn't quit, I went to bed and said "tomorrow I am not eating meat." I didn't decide to say it, but I woke up the next day and stopped eating meat.
Aside from the big quitting moments, I do also take smaller steps to improve on things. While my vegetarian decision stuck, a couple years later I did pick up smoking again. I made the same decision to quit again around last February. No odd dreams were entailed, but a reached a point where I felt I could stop. That time I took steps using nicotine-free cigarettes and fun stuff like that.
So I guess it all depends on where I am mentally when I make a decision. Now I am just waiting for the mystical dream to tell me I will never eat junk food again.
lol

At once! I prefer clean cuts. No jagged ends. Giving up an old habit requires will power, there should be no going back once decided. Doing away little by little is like giving in to temptations.........
Now, acquiring a new one can be gradual, need time to get familiar.....testing it tasting it accepting it assimilating it, all that requires pondering over......

At once. I used to be a chain smoker. I went cold turkey to quit smoking. I've been clean for sooo long that I can't remember for how long and never want to start ever again...
I don't think cutting down would work for me. Got to be tough!

At once. Just get it over with you know? If you do it little by little the chance of it not happening is greater. In my case anyways :)

doing it cold turkey is the best way but for some people it is really hard to break any kind of habit and it takes awhile

I like to do it all at once.
I decided to stop eating meat one day and the next day, I no longer ate it and I have not looked back. :-)

If is something simple I'd do it at once, but if its something more complex and related to other people I'd do it little by little.
Good day to you too :)
