off should i be that my 17 yr old daughter was allowed to buy smokes for her friend?

1 being only slightly annoyed, 10 being highly ticked.

my daughter has a friend that is 18 who smokes, but she (said friend) doesn't have id (no license or even photo id)...so the gas station wouldn't sell them to her. my daughter went in to see if she could buy them. they didn't even ID her...the guy said "oh, you have a facial piercing, so you have to be 18". She informed him after he had scanned the smokes that she was 17 and his reply was "oh well, it will be $4.23" and he still handed them over to her.

5.... no you are a mother.... an 8... and i wouldn't blame you a bit. A piercing doesn't indicate age, attendants, and cashiers alike are supposed to id if the person looks under the age of 35... i would know, i used to be one of them. I doubt your daughter could pass for 35... if she could, then you really can't blame the man. But i doubt she does. You should go talk to his manager and inform of this entire ordeal because there is no need for him to be voluntarily selling cigs to minors, i know, if i didn't know a gas station attendant like that when i was 16 i probably wouldn't have started smoking. so, protect your daughter, don't make it any easier for her to get in trouble teenagers need as little help as possible.l... good luck

I'd say that's a 8.5 on the ticked scale! What if your daughter tried the smokes for fun and then was hooked? All because some careless gas station attendant didn't do his job! He isn't gonna pay for her habit or her hospital bills when she gets old and can't breathe anymore is he? Disgusting!

That is the problem in this day an age in so far as being ticked .. I would say a 4 would suffice but she needs a stern warning and an understanding that she could cost the young man his job and some serious fines if not jail.

People need to understand there are consequences.

Sorry, but I'm a little skeptical of this story. They wouldn't sell to her friend because she had no I.D. but they would sell to your daughter because she had a facial piercing.....what? And then she tells them right there in the store that she was only 17. Something about this does not ring true to me.
Do you have any suspicions that your daughter may be smoking as well?

On that scale? There's not a number, that high! Damn Glad my kids are all grown up. And none of `em wanted anything to do with smoking. (My influence, there)
.. If they were trying to buy some friends? It's even worse. While you are punishing her? Remind her of this :
Tough love is tough!! But it is, also Love!! I wish you the best in dealing with this!! and try to have a great weekend!!

A 10! That gas station guy could be in a whole lot of trouble if it were to be reported.
