If you have an outboard motor, there is a nut that torques to 55ft. lbs. there is a thrust washer after you have removed the prop. I would change that as well while the prop is off. Very small price to pay for the proper thrust. Some of your smaller outdrives does have a pin to remove. Most common I'm familiar with is the nut and locf washer. It takes a 15/16 socket or a prop wrench to remove it. You will have to hold the prop by hand, don't put it in gear to break the nut loose. This could damage the internal gears. Good luck

Some drives have a cotter pin that holds the prop on, others have a straight pin that is held in place by a screw on cap. These types are easy to remove. Other, usually larger, units have the prop held on with a nut and sometimes require a puller to remove the prop.

They are made to be easily removed and repaired or replaced. Without knowing the exact model it is hard to say but basically there should be one nut in the center to remove and slide off. There will undoubtedly be some sort of lockiing device on the nut, perhpas a pin or bent tab on a washer. You shouldnt have any trouble, got for it.

I have a 25hp Mercury. My prop is held on with just a plastic nut. I use a Crescent wrench to remove the nut and the prop just slides right off. You might have to give it a few love taps to loosen it.
