I want to relocate there and need pro's and con's to make a good choice. Any one have any for me? Please answer only if you have actually BEEN there:) Also, apart from using the web, does any one in East Aurora know of a good way to find a rental apartment or house? I have checked papers, searched the net, drove around etc. Thanks. Best Answer gets my eternal gratitude and 10 points!

It's a lovely, older town with LOTS of charm!! The people are very nice there. The bad news is that East Aurora gets a LOT more snow that the city of Buffalo as it is in the "snowbelt" section (so you get a LOT more lake effect storms coming off of Lake Erie). They have this charming store in the middle of their downtown area...it's called Viddler's 5 & 10 and it's an old fashioned country store...very cool! People come from all over just to go there! Not sure where to check for apartment listings...I do like the suggestion of contacting the C of C.

I live near there. East Aurora is a pretty charming suburb, located about 25 minutes from Buffalo. Part of the charm comes from the hills, which add character to the place. The downtown section is a nice street that has an old-fashioned feel to it.

Now, as has been mentioned, it gets more snow than other places in the region. The dreaded Lake Effect from Lake Erie can pile the stuff up. Combine it with the hills, and it can be tough in the winter. Personally, I would hesitate to live there if I worked in Buffalo because there would be days where the drive in would be very difficult.

The apartment situation is pretty typical of a suburban town. You can find ads in the Buffalo News, which is on line.

I would advise against upstate NY. It has one of the worst economies in the nation. Erie County is almost bankrupt. Trust me, I moved away because it was so bad.

I have been there. Ask the chamber of commerce for a relocation package.
