If libs don't need someone to tell them how to think, why do their top leaders try to put one on the air?

That's because Democrats don't need someone telling them how to think. They do that all by themselves.

Well I tend to disagree with your premise that Liberal talk radio fails so miserably (I know, I know, your being facetious, but it is an interesting question none the less)

There are a couple of Liberal talk show hosts I know of that are doing very well:
Tom Leykis and Alan Colmes. If you look at the way they grew into thier jobs you can see why a majority of Liberal talk radio is not on par with say a Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh. Both Leykis and Colmes started small with a loyal following and grew incrementally, using free market economics to achieve thier success. Unfortunately, those liberals in charge of say Air America, buy up a ton of radio stations and start airing immediately, losing a ton of money in the process, and ending up in the black. But, notice that when a couple of Air America hosts became syndicated on a smaller level, they became more successful and in a couple years could have a great following.

So to answer your question the reason Liberal talk radio mostly fails is because they believe they are entitled to the air waves, and start way to large to be successful. When all they need to do is leave the business alone and the cream will rise to the top.

I myself watch Documentaries, and sometimes I listen to Conservative arguments to get a wider spectrum of opinions, but I base my strongest ideas off facts. I really can't bothered to listen to one-sided arguments even though I can agree with some of there ideologies.

Oh, and your Additional Details states:

If libs don't need someone to tell them how to think, why do their top leaders try to put one on the air?

I myseft have no leaders, for I am a free man.

The libs have been writing lots of books bashing Bush they have been given wealthy. Then they have became on the left and have been petrified of better taxes and have deserted Air u.s.. Who desires to hearken to u.s. bashing on the radio while Cynthia McKinney is working interior the golf green social gathering primaries (with 6 others) and Hillary is crying on the campaign path. I doubt a sort of two be the 1st woman American Prez. while can we ever hear something helpful from the left? The left desires to take from the wealthy and supply to the adverse. I study Robin Hood in regular college. The left has no longer something to talk approximately different than how lots pot they smoked final evening or how they think of invoice Clinton is God or why we don't choose jails. i don't comprehend a thank you to describe how boring the libs truly are to hearken to.

This is a case of the free market at it's best. Liberal talk radio SHOULD have a huge audience, but because of the programming, even the lib's can't tune in for very long. Hence, the programming goes off the air due to no one tuning in.

And yet Congress wants to bring back the fairness doctrine? heh.

Well, it is sort of hard to run a radio station when no one will advertise on it. 90 major companies requested that their commercials NOT run during Air America airtime.....Among the advertisers listed are Bank of America, Exxon Mobil, Federal Express, General Electric, McDonald's, Microsoft, Wal-Mart, and the U.S. Navy

Liberals figured out that there are better things in this world than AM radio!

Because the reason conservative talk shows do so well is that they feed the sheep on the idea of fear. They play on the fear of their listeners which keeps them coming back. Try not listening for 6 weeks and see if your outlook doesn't improve

Democrats don't need or want to listen to someone telling them whatever it is that the person thinks we want to hear. We want the truth so that we can form our own opinions. It's more difficult to hear news that might disagree with something you believe, that's why conservatives stick to outlets like Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter. Because they know that they won't hear anything that they don't agree with. They can have thier safe little assumptions and opinions and won't hear anything that makes them think.

For me, no thanks. I have the ability to think for myself and I don't need some half wit like Ann Coulter telling me what my opinion should be.

There were some good talk show hosts on Air America, but some were just seditious, and never allowed anyone with dissenting views on.

Talk show without dissenting views (except clearly stupid ones) are BORING!

Many of the successful shows are the ones that will let them on. They may tear them to pieces in the process, but they let them on.

Being proud or not is not the issue. The issue is to fix it.

I believe in free speech, including Republican talk radio.

I also believe in free speech for my own party (Democratic party).

Don't you?

Patriot first, party second.

Because they don't lie as conservative radio talk show hosts do.

Yes, Democrats are proud of that.
