Who said anything about the world coming to an end on 2012 December 21? As far as I know, the Mayan calender hasn't proven its worthiness yet...

At the rate that we are going, it'll be hard for the world to come to an end. And by world, do you mean the Earth or the entire universe (which is virtually) impossible.

If its Earth we're talking about, then the only way for it to come to an end is if it were hit by a huge asteroid at least 1 mile in diameter or supernova from a nearby star.

regards,
DeepNight.

No, the Earth will continue to exist until the Sun follows the process currently predicted for it, and expands to such a size that the Earth's atmosphere is blasted off, and friction with the solar wind causes the Earth to spiral into the Sun. This will take place in approximately 1 billions years (so don't forget to mark your diaries).

The Mayan's poisoned their own environment through a brutal monarchy refusing to spend money on sanitation for the poor, which in turn promoted diseases that killed everyone, including the monarchy themselves.

Motto: The world will keep going more or less forever, unless we screw up!

Their calender is only more accurate than ours by 0.00214 days and this may only have been a fluke. The Mayans did not actually predict that the world will end in 2012, it is just when their calender goes back to 13 (calenders equivalent to 0). In our times this is probably like a new millennium, not the end of the world.

The mayan calander does not say the world will end. It never actually says the world will end on that day in fact it does not say very much about that day at all.

That is just the last day of their calander and the reason for that is because it will the be the beginning of something else not the end of the world.

First of all, that is not a question. Someone might report you. Secondly, the Bible says, "At the end of the ages, Christ will come like a thief in the night. Of that day and hour, no one knows but God the Father." People have been predicting the destruction of the earth for years. The Bible also says, "As a dog returns to its vomit, do does a fool repeat his folly." Also, "Kind rebuke is worth more to a wise man that a hundred lashings to a fool." So I guess there's no use talking to you about this. Thanks for the two points, though! (^_^)

Is this question more on predictions or calculations?

Whatever your answer will be, you should be thankful that you received the most important gift of your entire life - the gift of life. Enjoy life!

Science has its own limitations. Science cannot predict what is next in line. Ancient mayan, scientists, philosophers, geniuses... to name a few are just people, plain people, they live normally like we all do. They invent things like the mayan calendar for scientific research only. It has no power, whatsoever, to foretell time. Only God the Father knows what is best for all of us.

Asking this question proves a wavering faith. Believe in Him and you will be happy forever.

I heard about this one as well.
The moon will eclipse the milky way from Earth, and so cutting off any energies we might get from there. It is also the year of the Olympics, which is traditionally bad luck.

However, the world is not supposed to end. Just the world as we know it. The theories are that humans perspective will change, and we may become more spiritual. Utter rubbish if you ask me, but it still made a interesting read.

No.

The world will come to an end in November, 2008, when
Hillary Clinton is elected President of the United States.
The world as we know it will cease to exist then.
