Last night. I'm in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. i'm a Muslim but the brand of Islam these clerics are presenting to the whole world is so heart breaking.
When I'm writing these lines, armed clashes are going on between State forces (Police backed by Rangers and Army) and the clerics of one Lal Masjid (Red Mosque). These fundamentalists were constantly challeging the writ of the State by kidnapping people (alleging that they were running brothel houses) and even security forces personnel. Now they attacked the Rangers when Government decided to take them on. Right now many clerics are inside the mosque, under seige.
Not only this, there was a Madrassa (a religious school with boarding facility) for male & female students inside the mosque where some selected students were given training to use weapons &, if need be, do suiside bombing. Most of the students, however, were not involvd in these activities & were only getting religious education.
why I cried yesterday night? The clerics are not letting many students go out of the Madrassa and are using them as their shield. The parents of those students who are still inside the mosque are crying bitterly as they had no idea what will happen to their innocent children. The government's hands are also tied because no one wants to spill innocent blood. this is so heart breaking.
I cried for those children whose life is at stake, for the parents who are praying for the life of their children and I cried because this is not Islam. These fundamentalists are tarnishing the image of a peaceful religion by expounding it to suit their interests.
Terrorism, wherever it is, & whosoever is doing, must be strongly condemned.

This morning and last night I cried because I'm going through a break up. My heart has been completely crushed.
But nothing is more important than what I just read above. My heart goes out to you and all those innocent people. I can't imagine if we had to live like that and it makes me never take for granted living here in the US. I will pray for everyone over there.

I was shopping for my sister's birthday three weekends ago. I found this really great card that summed up our relationship to a T and I got really weepy. It was also that time of the month, so THAT didn't help. LOL. I went home and had some chocolate and I was all better.
:-)
