Its a term to describe modern man.
1.5 to 2 million years ago there was Homo- habilis. The earliest form of man. He was the first 'great ape'
500,000 years ago lived Homo Erectus (he walked on 2 legs)
Then came the Neanderthal (about 100,000-30,000 years ago). They were very primitive and animalistic, but they lived in groups, wore clothing, used fire and made basic hunting tools
Next was cro-magnum (40,000-10,000 years ago) There cranial features were elongated to allow for a larger brain, more evolved tools and grinding rocks and the developers of religion
And now, modern man living today is called Homo Sapiens.
Mind you Ali G and many Urban languages would say that homo sapien is a technical term for a homo sexual...I don't know why but each to there own !

Sorry, but you could not be more wrong. Men have been seeking for hundred of years to find a link that would associate evolution of ape into man. It is known as the infamous missing link. There is a science used in forensics that takes the skeletal remains of a body and build or constructs a face to identify a corpse. Science has proven that as long as a man is living, his skeletal structure accumulates or grows. So a percentage was factored as to how much a man's bones grow in his lifetime today. Then that percentage was used in this study. Computer animation was used which is the same science used in the forensics of skeletal remains. So that factored in the same percentage of growth, added to the what a man would look like if he lived to be 1000 years. I believe it was around the 400 year mark CroMagnum man popped up. And around the 700 to 800 mark Neanderthal man popped up. The bible says men lived to near 1000 years in the days prior to the flood. Believe the Word of God. All answers are there. Man as he gets better in science unravel or put to rest those old scientific studies such as evolution. Evolution is dead, they just forgot to bury the corpse.
