Is it me or are the Astros playing as bad as the Nationals and the Orioles, etc are?? Their record certainly supports that thought, since they have consistently been in the bottom of the NL all year.... Does anyone think they are actually as bad as such "bad teams" like the Nats?

They are not as bad as the Nats, that's for sure. Their record is deceptive this year as well. I am not an Astros apologist, but, they have been playing better as of late. The beginning of the year was riddled with offensive holes, and the bullpen was pretty solid overall. Then, the offense starts shaking things up, and the bullpen fails them. The starting pitching has been half decent thanks to Wandy Rodriguez improving drastically and Chris Sampson throwing some good outtings.

Anyway, they just can't seem to get everything going at once. It's sad, because they have so much more talent than they show. Also, trend-wise, the Astros are a second half of the season team. They are my team(obviously), and I never rule them out until a few weeks into the second half of the season. We will see then. All I can say is, thank goodness for Hunter Pence and Biggio's 3,000 thus far.

The Nats are actually playing above their heads as they have very little talent. The Stros are underachieving as they have much more talent than the Nats.
The Stros will have a better second half like they always do, but they are in too deep of a hole to make any noise in the division race.

I think their series with Chicago next week will tell. When Milwaukee hits a big slump (not if but when) the NL Central could really open up. I think the final race will be Chicago and St. Louis but Houston still has a chance.
I do wonder about their manager living off past laurels!

The Astros are coming up short in a lot of areas this year and will not make the playoffs. Although they are not one of the elite teams they are better than the Nationals. I believe you will see them "clean" house this year and start the re-building process.

definatley not as bad as the nats. They are just having a few problems this year. They have a lot of potential (luke scott, hunter pence) and will get better with time.

While the Astros arent very good, they're not nearly as bad as Washington.

In reality they should be better than the Nationals even though they haven't shown that lately.
