My younger sister now goes to the same school I used to.
She, also, is having trouble with a teacher I had trouble with when I was at school.
This particular male teacher is a complete bully, and several times I was physically and verbally abused by him throughout my time at that school. By physically, In mean he had grabbed me roughly, and once grabbed my hand which was wrapped an a bandage after I got burnt. It makes me so angry looking back, that he was able to get away with that behaviour, it wasn't just me, it was many students who suffered this kind of treatment, often shouting at pupils telling them they were morons etc.
Now my sister is getting the same treatment, but the school are siding with the teacher. She is very shy and can't stick up for herself very well.
What can be done??? Is there a council or an organisation who can help? Please help.

I think you should write a letter to the superintendent of the local school board. Send a copy of that letter to the local newspaper and to the principal of the school the teacher works at. Also, try and have your sister take a tape recorder with her to his class. If she can simply record the teacher's verbal abuse of the students, there will be reason enough for the the school board to believe the physical abuse is real as well. It might be a good idea for her to start taking the recorder to class for a little while before you send out your letter, as well as after, just in case the teacher tries to clean up his act after the letter hits the newspaper. If it works, your sister won't really have to do anything at all(other than the tape recorder-which only you and her need be aware of).
There's no reason at all that a teacher should be allowed to get away with that kind of behavior. A student would be in big trouble for repeatedly verbally and physically abusing another student, and he should be held accountable for his actions according to the same rules they're trying to teach the students.
GOOD LUCK.
Poppy's idea of a petition would be a good idea as well. Perhaps sending a copy(never send the original of anything) of the petition to the newspaper with your letter would greatly assist in making sure they take you seriously.

Most anonymous complaints go no where. Anyone can make anonymous allegations of abuse, true or not, to try to get someone in trouble, so you have to stand up and let them know who you are and that you are serious about this complaint. You need to talk to the headmaster. If this goes no where, as you say, call child protective services or sign a formal complain with the police. Abuse is abuse. Any chance she can transfer to another class or school?
From your spelling I assume you are in the United Kingdom. I don't know the process there, but in America any parent or student can complain to the principal. In my district the principal has to report the allegations to the school district who sends out a team of investigators. Usually during this investigation, if the allegations are serious, the teacher will be suspended until the case is resolved. But you cannot file an anonymous complaint, you or your parents have to stand up for your rights.

That's terrible the bullying you've endured and what your little sister is now going through. I was just looking at a bullying website yesterday for info for my little sister so here it is below. It's a very comprehensive site and hopefully you will find something in there that will help expose and stop this bullying teacher. Not only that, the school should be held accountable. If you can do this discreetly, gather a petition of students who have also suffered or are suffering. The school and this teacher needs to know how many have been affected and that it needs to stop. Best of luck with it!

I would have a talk with the school counselor and principal. Tell them what's going on. Cite specific episodes..Are there cameras in the hallways? They can probably review the tapes and catch these behaviors that he is doing. You have to tell on him. It may make him angrier..but that way there will be people watching out for you. You need to tell your parents. They need to be the ones to tell his parents and the police if necessary. Here in my town, there was a boy bullying another boy. The parents got involved..talked to the princpal..and the boy stopped. If he knows he can't get away with it, he won't do it. Make a list of the times he calls and what he says. Don't say anything to him. Just let him talk. Then hang up. Have your parents listen in so they can hear for themselves. Good luck.

HI,
Seems like this problem has to go away!!
Can you rally students your age and older who will side with you?
If you can, either get them to sign a letter outlining the abuse that you all experienced, or just write a personal one.
Take it to the principal, send one to the superintendent of school, and the bonus, send one to your local newspaper titled "Letter to the Editor". If you want you can also walk into the office with everyone you can find and hand out the letter to all the teachers at the school.
The law is on your side, don't be scared, it is up to you to take the lead, and get this teacher punished. Be the hero and protect your sister and all the others who will be next.
Good luck. I am sure all yahoo will be here to give you help.
Good luck

Keep asking for adult support. If the staff you have talked to won't help, keep asking. Call the administrative office and speak to the secretary. Talk to your parents, your friends' parents, other teachers. Call local social service agencies such as Children's Services if necessary. As a last resort, call the police. But I bet if you keep asking for help from more adults, someone will listen.
Good luck. Email me and let me know how you're doing.
Oh! You're an adult! That's even better! Encourage her to contact other adults, but if she's shy, don't let her down. Call the administrative office and speak to someone, a secretary, the superintendent, etc. Don't stop til you get results. It's ok to be nice about it, just don't stop til someone listens.

You need to tell your parents. Children are defenseless when it comes to adults who have the upper hand. They need to address this with facts and go to the school board. Have your sister removed from his class immediately and stand firm on the decision. I have seen many poor teachers who are still teaching and it's infuriating. The school could install cameras in his class to catch him in the act. I've heard of one teacher who duct taped his students mouth and other forms of abuse. It happens all the time. Good luck. Hope you nail him.

You need to report him to the superintendent. I would think that an investigation would have to be started to at least make sure there's really nothing going on. If this guy is really like this he's done it to other students as well and they might already have a file on him. Have your parents come in with you.

I don't think that this is the sort of thing that can be dealt with anonymously: it is a very serious accusation which needs to be dealt with following correct procedure. The first step is to approach either the Headteacher or Chair of Governors and ask for a copy of the school's complaints procedure. You then need to follow that procedure, step by step, very closely.

Alert your friends to this, and have a camera phone ready to provide irrefutable evidence. Then present the evidence to your parents ad to the dean or principal.
