The two proverbs express two different concerns to me. One is often used in the context of relationships that are romantic but the other saying expresses how friends are attracted to one another. My good friend named Aristotle has much to say about friends. In Greek, he says that birds of a feather flock together.

An opposite attracts by catching our imagination, but the real ground-level practical attraction comes from the compatibility shown by birds of the same feather flocking together.

first, opposite attracts..then birds of the same feathers flock together..because if they will be together in a long time their attitudes will be the same..sooo common..

I think people who have the same interests attract eachother more than opposites because its easier to find something to talk about and less arguments will ensue. I myself get along better with people who share the same interests as me and opinions.

both....for instance...im sure they are going to have a lot of things in common but they need the opposite side of it to balance the relationship out...Like my husband is very risky when it comes to purchasing things and im total opposite so we'd be broke if i didnt hold him off on some things...but we are alike in other instances like we go to the gym, like sports, and cook well....so thats my opinion on that!

Yes. I think we are initially attracted to that but then turned off by it later. And then we end up with people more like ourselves in the end.

this one guy at work got mad at me , because he said his wife is just the opposite from him , so I asked does he fool around with the neighbors and he said no , and I said does that mean your wife does
