Anyone else feel fireworks are really boring and you only watch them out of a sense of patriotic duty? I do ;O) I think they're a dreadful bore, but I feel like I have to see them on the Fourth of July because - I don't know, but everybody else does! :OP I guess it's the patriotic thing to do ...
I am not a humbug or unpatriotic at all, I just think fireworks are boring ... anybody else like me out there?

Sorry, but I love watching the fireworks on the 4th of July and I don't consider myself real patriotic---I simply enjoy them.

My kids are still thrilled by a great fireworks display and by being old enough to help light the ones we buy now... Fireworks have nothing to do with patriotism, I know that, but it still is a neat way to celebrate our forefathers and their sacrifice.
I've told them what our family has done in service of our country and its wars, especially WWII onward. We have served in every conflict since then.

Dear: It is certainly not your patriotic duty to watch fireworks.
Its just a tradition. Some of us like traditions more than others
of us. So find something you might LIKE to do on the fourth.
To answer your question, I watch them because I can see them from my desk.

oh honey, I'm so sorry you don't like them! I grew up with parents and grandparents that were really into having fun with fireworks. I love everything from sparklers to roman candles. We even put sparklers on Birthday cakes, so we're probably just a little nutty with them now that I think about it.... LOL

There by no means boring. It just takes a lot now days to entertain us. I guess anything can be boring if its been done for about 2000 years.

I only watch them because my wife likes them. I saw some at the harbor fest in June and I have to see more this Sat. on 07/07/07.
