The two best anti-depressants I know of are Wellbutrin, commonly used to help stop smoking but it's an excellent anti-depressant, and exercise. All drugs have side-effects so you may want to try exercise first. The only side effect of exercise is physical fitness, weight loss, and feelings of well-being! If you're not exercising now start with 30 minutes of easy cardio such as walking or swimming or biking 4 times a week. Work up to 40 minutes, walking, running, biking, swimming, playing basketball 5 or 6 times a week. If you find you enjoy it, add 20 minutes of toning, strengthening and stretching 3 or 4 times a week.
If you've been depressed for a long time or the feelings are very over-whelming, call your doctor and ask to try meds such as Wellbutrin. Just make sure you see your doctor on a regular basis.

like leslie said exercise is a great way to fight depression. You can work your anxiety's out of your system, nothing like a good sweat to help you forget things for awhile. I've been taking norwegian COD LIVER OIL yup it sounds nasty but it really shake's the clouds from my mind and I have a nice clear head and seem to process things allot better. It's also incredible healthy for you and all organic.

I have taken this drugs for over 15 years and find there is no pat answer. What works for one won't work for another. It is a good Idea to ask a good doctor about this.
