Let's not defer to ESPN's Sports Century list either.

Smooth Jones, I think you disqualify several athletes on your list by your own definition. Track and Field is considered a single sport with the various events being different events. Kind of like a center, a punter, a quarterback, and a safety being different positions in the sport of football.

I'm not saying I disagree with your selections, I just don't consider Track and Field to be two different sports.

My list would be large, but it would definitely include Jim Thorpe, Babe Didrickson, Michael Jordan, Jesse Owens, Cassius Clay (Ali), Jack Nicklaus, and Konishiki.

the greatest athlete is Jim Thorpe. he played football basketball baseball and ran track is was the greatest athletes of all time than my list would go jim brown(football and lacross) bo jackson (baseball and football) deon sanders (baseball and football) jessie owens (track and field) carl lewis(track and field) jacike joyner kerse (track and field) unless they played at least 2 sports they can not be great athletes just great at there game ie.. jordan bird manning rice ali. there is no longer many muti-sport people out there.
