I did it and it isn't too difficult. Further, you will experience a peace of mind that will be worth your weight in gold. (For starters, a faith in Jesus and a desire to give it up for the right reason should be the foundation.) I wanted to give it up because the media implanted a lust for women far out of the ordinary and I was going insane because I wanted more than one woman (most are like this, hence so much cheating and divorce). My time was spent feeling sorry for myself and thinking of suicide - boohoo for me. I wanted a woman in proportion to the frequency of masturbating and mental sexual dreaming and I lost my focus in many areas of life. So here is what I did...
If I thought about a woman twenty times an hour, I would block out just a few of those thoughts if I could not block them all. At first it was like giving up a drug. But soon momentum took over and I could go for longer and longer periods.
Step one: block out as many thoughts as you can of arousing images until you can go all day without thinking of it even once - like myself (keeping in mind I am in my twenties and naturally muscular due to high levels of testosterone - If I could do it anyone can). This will include turning away from stimulating outward images such as most of what you see on television, the attire of many young women, and the general media.
Step two: to make this process easier get involved with some sort of activity: exercise, work-related things, etc. It might be tough to get started, but soon you will be mentally absorbed into your work and before you know it you have defeated your thoughts, have gained more control over yourself and are finally exhibiting true strength.
In addition to these things: do not listen to anyone telling you it is okay to masturbate, that you are an idiot, that you are not a normal man, etc. It is not normal and after all, you feel ashamed, correct? Keep in mind that misery loves company and so do losers and the self-defeated, as their pride cannot stand the thought of someone being stronger or above their faults. Deep inside they hate when people even consider giving it up.
Most men are weak and we live in a sexually starved world where sex is "celebrated" far too much (actually our generation's "celebration" is just our pride getting in the way of admitting it is a problem). Most men would screw some guys wife and destroy a marriage and mess up kids head simply because they are controlled by their sexual desire like a drug addict - they hurt others with no conscience to get their "fix" no different than a crack addict.
Realize that you are in for a battle because of the media, most of your peers, and the world around you, but it can be done and the reward is more peace, self-control, and contentment than most people could only dream of.
Finally, sex is not wrong and avoiding masturbation, sexual thoughts, and the like, will cause you to be ultra sensitive when you do have sex. When you do finally find a good woman, a wife, your sexual experience will be out of this world and you will not get sick of your wife simply because you will not desensitize yourself by partaking in so many forms of it like most people do, leading to the failure of many relationships due to becoming "bored" of the same person.
Good luck, or even better - God Bless!

If you want to give it up because you think it's a shameful act, it's ok. It's not wrong or shameful or dirty in any way. It's completly normal. Everyone does it, even women. I think masturbation is the safest sex possible. You get to know your body better and you can have a better sex life whether you're married or not because you're more familiar with yourself. Sexual urges are a natural part of life. I would go crazy if I couldn't take care of those urges. If you want to give it up because you want to become a priest or something, just remember all those priests who molested those little boys. I guess if they were masturbating more they wouldn't be such crazy perverts!!

Masturbation is a natural thing and feels great, why do you want to give it up? I am in a long term relationship with a healthy sex life but I still masturbate on a regular basis and so does my man.

The best you can hope for is to control it. Its almost impossible to stop. There is no reason you can't learn to live with it in a controlled condition. There are many men who are addicted and live normal lives. This addiction does not cost, hurt anyone and is readily available. If you still want to stop all together seek professional help. Good luck.

I think you only want to give it up because you have feelings of guilt after having done it........again.......
Now here is the answer.
Do not give up the habit, but get rid of the guilt.
Masturbation is good and healthy, even while you are in a relationship, so shun the guilt boy.
Nothing to be ashamed about

if u are feeling guilty , focus on positive things like exercising and other interests you seek to follow.its not a sin if someone tells u it is as the world does it. if you are a man and have not done it you are actually not normal.so doing it is no harm just the feeling of guilt should be ridden off

Humans are sexual. It's as simple as that. It's hard to say that there is a "cure" for sexual urges and feelings, since such feelings are extremely hard to oppress. I can only help by saying avoiding pornography, keeping yourself busy, and finding different activities that you enjoy to keep your mind off of it when you get the urge (hobbies, exercise, or learning something new).

Why do you want to give it up? It's not harming anyone. Don't feel ashamed by it, it's very natural.
