It's simple, reflection helps you reach certain conclusions.

Most people form opinions according to the events they come in contact with. Those opinions are based on first impressions. First impressions might or might not reflect the truth.

That's why ulterior reflection helps you reach better conclusions. By reflecting, you manage to analyze the state of the situation better.

If you go by Mead you will get only so far as to realize the existence of consciousness phenomenon is due to the need of our organism to have a determination in the motor reaction so as to obtain the most economical relationship with objective reality. Now we know too that the consciousness is part of a creative process where not only are we effected by reality but we too effect reality and in order to accomplish that the self must coordinate accordingly.

i believe it is the most important part...this is why: when you reflect on how you got through the rough times...you learn more than just getting through them or the failures you have can teach you lessons upon reflection...in addition the good things that happen at the time, you may not even notice them until you reflect back and say...that was really something there...and learn how to get those wonderful things to surround your life...in saying all of this i think regret is the one negative part of reflection but it usually occurs prior to reflection and is just enhanced by the experience...a lesson i learned a long time ago: if you don't learn from your past you are bound to repeat the same mistakes...reflection is paramount in learning the lesson...and repeating sucks!

We learn how to control our destiny from our history. When one reflects, they are able to learn from past mistakes!
