the ignition switch keeps slipping down on the steering colum.i fix it then after about a week it stops working.it slips down so the acuator rod doesn't engage properly

I think you might be in a little trouble here. The ignition switch attaches to the column by two little cap screws on the side and the top of the steering column. These two screws go into tapped holes of the column that you tighten down after positioning or adjusting the ignition switch and the hi-lo headlight switch. When I used to tighten these up, I put a little bit of thread locite on them to be sure they kept tight. If your switch is moving out of adjustment, you either are having the screws loosen on you and just a re-adjustment and the thread loctite will fix it. I suspect that there is damage to the column threads for the two cap screws though. You will have to look. If these are damaged, you don't have too many options. One is to replace the column with a used one which is actually pretty inexpensive and not too hard to do at all. The other is to somehow hold the switch tightly to the column. I would think you could rig up something with a couple of rad hose clamps or something. You would have to be careful not to short anything out as there are lots of power connections here. Good luck.

wel thats not really my department on a car but ill try... it sounds like it isnt mounted properly or your ignition cable is too tight causing it to pull on your mount and eventually weakening it try to take it apart and make sure nothings brokemake sure to remember how it goes together
