okay , u have two options

1- buy a usb hub , u can have 2 , 4 or 7 usb ports then instead of ur existing one

2- get a usb PCMCIA card , provided that u have that port in your laptop , but u usually have it , it's in almost every laptop

choose whichever suits u best , and enjoy.

yes.
If it a pc and you are handy you can get an add on pci usb card.

Sorry - i now see you have a laptop - i wondered about the one usb port.
You have two options at least:

1) A PCMCIA USB card
The card goes in the pcmcia credit card slot.
They add from two to 4 slots depending on the size you want and cost.
The speed is fine.
The other option is for a usb hub. As said get the powered one . They usually add 4 ports.
If you already are using a PCMCIA wi fi or network card make sure that you have physical space for both cards.
At the worst you can add a usb network adapter to the pcmcia usb slots.

if you have an older laptop a usb 1 device would be fine.
if it is a newer laptop look for a usb 2 device ( most of the new ones are)

usually around $ 20.
If you have a newer computer make sure you get the newer usb 2 ( and not older usb1) ( usb 2 is up to 40 times as fast - not important for older things but for newer stuff like hard drives and external dvds)

- if not get an extenal usb hub. Make sure you get the powered type ( will have an ac adapter ) not the cheaper ones ( passive with no ac adapter)

both types ( pci and external ) just plug in. No installs of software are needed

Yep, get a USB hub lead which plugs into your existing port but has two, or four, or even six at the other end. Very useful and not expensive!

GET A 4 PORT HUB. I RECOMMEND A HIGH SPEED ONE. THE REGULAR ONES ARE TOO SLOW. YOU CAN FIND THEM AT WALMART, RADIO SHACK, ETC. AND THEY ARE FAIRLY INEXPENSIVE. A HIGH SPEED ONE AT WM IS ABOUT $20.
