Very often but it's not always advisable. You run the risk of losing a friend if it doesn't work out. I prefer keeping the friend and finding another love.

how often can lust turn into love.. how often can romance turn into a life time commitment..well i would say pretty often because to love someone i think its important to have a friendship with them... to understand them, be able to joke around with them and most importantly feel comfortable with them.. but how often can lovers turn into friends well never...once you'ave crossed a certain line between the both its impossiable to come back...and go back to where it all started! =)
