And what would happen if all the gasoline ran out and we all had to use mass transportation and/or bicycles? Do you ever worry about that happening?

Yes I have thought about it, but honestly I don't worry about it. I think it would be great. Our environment would begin to heal, people would not be shut off from each other (sitting crowded on a bus makes one appreciate a smile) the way we are in cars, road rage would be a thing of the past along with its potential for violence, we would not be so oil-dependent and much overseas war would cease. Drunk/drug induced driving and those fatalities would be gone. No more traffic court. Travel would suffer, unfortunately, but necessity is the motherhood of invention, so they say, so many new and exciting ways to travel would be invented or reinvented. Maybe if extreme gas shortage only the emergency vehicles would have fuel--think of that--ambulances would get to and from the hospital faster, police would answer your call sooner and fire trucks could get to the fire quickly. No more oil slicks destroying the oceans and ocean life. I sure would be late a lot more tho.

If all the gasoline ran out, as you say, there wouldn't be mass transportation.

We'd all be a lot thinner, esp. those that drive farther to work!

Horse breeders would probably make good money!

In Sept.,2005,Hurricane Rita roared thru Beaumont,TX,and I was there.I didn't leave. There was no power, water, food,or gasoline.People looted, stole gas wherever they could. You had to have gas to get to the relief stations for food and water.People got desperate. When the gas trucks did arrive,National Guard was called in to control the chaos.I know what will happen, and you had better have a gun to protect yourself.

I do, but I am also aware that because of cars, families do not stay together. we are a mobile society - I have family all over the country. if we had all stayed in one little town, we could have been much stronger than we are now.

If EVERYONE rode bikes, maybe it would be okay. But where I live, it would be a time-consuming and dangerous proposition to bike to work or school every single day. And what would a person do if it were raining or snowing?
