Data can be anything .. some text, numbers, statistics...
like ur name is "mathi" ... well since u know it, there is no information in it ...
when the probability of knowledge of the event increases, then the information carried by the data decreases... and vice versa ...
Information, is some data u are not aware of ... and something that is useful to u ...

Data is just the set of values for particular attributes of the subject where as information is a processed data which has meaning in depth & is interpretable & understandable to the reader

Data is raw untabulated or ordered/structured results. Whereas information is information that has been ordered or categorized. Data is usually vast and very abundant in results, where as information is smaller and more specific or defined.

Information is the processed Data.
Example:
The matter in the attendence register in the classroom is data.
But if Student 'A' has got 80% attendence, then it is information.
