and oh, don't tell me about that 63 point performance of Jordan against the Celtics, they lost anyway.

Actually, Kobe's 63 against the Mavs were better than Jordan's cause he outscored the whole Mavs team (a team that went to the Finals, 58-24 record)by himself, now that is sick.

I'm sorry, it was just 62 pts. not 63, very sorry.

KOBE'S PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS
Kobe shot a great 60.9% from the field and single-handedly lifted the Laker from an 18 point deficit in the third quarter to beat the Toronto Raptors. He did it without much help from teammates. His 53.8% three-point accuracy was amazing. He didn't need overtime to get his 81 points. In fact, he was even sitting on the bench for six minutes!

14 pts first quarter, 12 pts second quarter, 27 pts third quarter and 28 points fourth quarter = 81 points in 42 minutes. That's 1.93 points per minute!!

He didn't get as many freethrows as MJ, but thanks to his third quarter treys, he outscored MJ by 10 points at the end of the third quarter. Kobe is clearly playing the game at a different level with this superhuman feat. Wouldn't you get tired hoisting 46 shots in a game?

This is commuppance for the Dec 20, 2005 game against the Mavericks where Kobe scored 62 points in the first three quarters but Phil Jackson sat him out the entire fourth quarter.

Taking control of the game? Hell yes. Kobe's 81 points is hotter than MJ's 69. You've got to respect that.

MJ'S PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS
Michael Jordan needed overtime to score his 69 pts. He shot a spectacular 62.2% from the field and grabbed 18 rebounds. He had a crucial defensive rebound in the last 23 seconds of the last quarter. Chicago Bulls had a 11 point lead in the game at the start of the fourth quarter but turnovers and missed chances gave the Cleveland Cavaliers time to catch up and take the game into overtime.

16 pts first quarter, 15 pts second quarter, 20 pts third quarter, 10 points fourth quarter and 8 pts in overtime = 69 points in 48.5 minutes. That's 1.42 points per minute. Not as amazing as Kobe's 1.93 points per minute.
It was a close and hard fought game. Cleveland is a good team with great players like Mark Price, Brad Daugherty, John "Hot Rod" Williams, Larry Nance and pre-ennial Jordan-whipping boy, Craig Ehlo.

Jordan in control and at his best.

Plus, when Jordan scored 69 pts. Ron Harper was injured Brad Daugherty has just returned from ankle surgery.

Well, I can't think of any game where Kobe scored 60pts above and lost.

For you to score that much, you must be able to carry your team through.

Why lose?

26 pts. when Kobe started heating up in the 3rd quarter, 55 in the last two quarters.
They were down by 18 three minutes into the 3rd quarter.

you see, numbers don't lie.

Shaq said that Kobe is the best player in the league.

Steve Kerr said that Kobe is the best complete offensive player in the league.

stop hatin, start loving.

2007-07-05 21:01:13 · update #6

To the people, who said that Jordan's outscored Kobe in every single stats...

Well, he retired already.
So, what would you expect?

The fact is, before Kobe will reach 40 years old, every single thing, except divorce, that Jordan made or recorded will Kobe achieve.

Anyway, that doesn't mean that if you have 6 rings you are the best, how about robert horry? he has seven rings, does that mean he is better than your jordan?
how about bill russell?

Don't hate on me, i'm just telling the truth.

The Truth is Kobe will get the better end of it.

and you will have to agree.

2007-07-05 21:07:02 · update #7

to helterskelter,

what did his team do in the first two quarters?
oh, y eah, i remember, they were down by 18 because his teammates shot awful.
even i can't stand something like that, when you are down by 18 points, and no players were clicking, you got to take over, and that's what leaders do, TAKING OVER.

That's why they won.

2007-07-05 21:18:13 · update #8

Wait, how many rings did Shaq win w/o Kobe before he went to the Lakers?

0? right? 0?

ZERO.

Shaq can't win all by himself.
No one can't win all by himself.
Even Shaq didn't win w/o Wade, even Wade.

Can tim duncan win w/o tony parker, david robinson, ginobili?

You need to have at least one partner.
Just like in the movies, you need someone who can help you.

Jordan never won a ring w/o Pippen.

So, don't give me that sh*t.

myself,
your point just made you on crack,
that's right, the raptors held him to 11 points, because he had an off night,
well, he did 70 more the next game between them.

when you jack up that many shots, that doesn't mean you can score 81 like kobe, it takes skills, and hardwork, doubt you can do that.

to intzki,
jordan averaged 30pts a game in his career, right.
but it's over right?
kobe is averaging 24 pts a game, but he's still in shape, and can beat kareem's record of 33k pts..
i'm tired of saying this:
CHAMPIONSHIPS DOESN'T MEASURE A PLAYER'S GREATNESS.
How about Big Shot Bob?
Well, is he better than Jordan? Because he has seven rings?
stfu.
Well, Ben Wallace won a defensive player of the year award, does that give him enough credibility to be better than Kobe? don't think so.

Jordan never led his teams in assists, review your record.
Kobe's buzzer-beaters are much more than what Jordan did, are you researching man?
Kobe played with a broken finger and still

2007-07-06 15:00:17 · update #10

managed to score 30pts.
wait, it was his right finger.
well?

i'm gonna borrow your word,
You might want to think about those things before you say such things.

hairydawg,
if you're watching the news, you would know the truth.
Shaq said it in his own mouth, that Buss was the one the made him traded to the heat, read the news man.

AI?
are you kidding me?
ai, had snow and mckie in their primes, when they went to the finals, DO SOME RESEARCH.

KOBE RULZ! PERIOD! wOw really incredible stats and opinion. ur right dude and i dont know why all this kobe-haters just cant open their eyes. kobe can actually take control of the the game by scoring. not by defense though so he needs to have some good defensive teammates like kirilenko and hughes. this is my first 5 on nbalive miller-swift-kirilenko-kobe-hughes. take control!

I think you got a man crush on Kobe. Lol the difference between Jordan having Pippen Duncan having Parker is Jordan and Duncan where the reason they won the only reason Kobe won was Shaq. Shaq was the dominate force Kobe was just the back up or side kick you show say. Kobe couldn't share the spot light with shaq so he got rid of him or cried till the lakers got rid of him so he gets everything he deserves. Kobe will never win another champonship not a team player. If you wanna compare numbers look at AI stats scoring wise and at least A.I went to the finals without a supporting cast Kobe can't even do that

like the first post, Wilt did score 100 so what is your point. And second of all, Jordan had a team of good players. To prove this Kobe had only two assists 6 rebounds and 3 steals that game (http://www.nba.com/news/kobe_81_index.html) but Jordan had 6 assists and 18 rebounds and 4 steals (http://espn.go.com/nba/s/2003/0416/1539829.html)

Third of all, they were playing the Raptors who that year were on of the worst teams in the league, while Jordan was playing against a decent Cleveland team who, if they didn't have an injury to Mark Price would of been over .500 again as the following year they went 57-25. By the way the same Raptors that held him to a measley 11 points in a games earlier that season (http://www.nba.com/features/inside_kobe81.html)

You are going to score alot when you take that many shots!
It is not only scoring that makes a legend.

So you are saying that Kobe is better than Jordan because Kobe scored 81 and Jordan scored only 69????

You compared 2 players in based on their best scoring game???? You don't compare players like that. There's more criteria to base your judgement. Kobe scoring 81 against Jordan's 69 doesn't make Kobe better than Jordan.

You shouldn't judge players like that. Besides, he scored it against Toronto.

How about all the rest of the games that they played besides those scoring outbursts????

Jordan averaged 30 points his entire career while Kobe has a career average of 24 ppg.

How about Jordan's six championships to Kobe's three???? And that's with Shaq. Jordan never had a Shaq-like teammate. He did have Pippen but Kobe has Odom which is pretty the same with Pippen's game.

Has Kobe ever won a defensive player of the year award????

Has Kobe ever led his team in assists in a season????

Has Kobe won as much buzzer beaters as Jordan in the playoffs????

Has Kobe ever played with a disgruntled stomach or a broken foot and still manage 30+ points on his way to victory????

Believe me, there's even more.

You might want to think about those things before you say such things.

Well, tell me who owns the highest career scoring average of 30.12 PPG? Who owns the highest playoff scoring average of 33.5 PPG? Who was the league's 10-time scoring champion (interrupted only by his retirement during the '93-'94 and '94-'95 seasons)? Who was the only 40-year old player in history to score over 40 points (did it twice in '02-'03)? It's MICHAEL JORDAN, man! Next time you draw a comparison, take a look at the whole picture and not just on particular games.

And please remember that greatness is not only measured by scoring. MJ was DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR in 1988 and a 9-TIME ALL DEFENSIVE FIRST TEAM MEMBER. In other words, he was dominant on both ends of the court. He was not a whiner. He stuck with the Bulls during his first four or five years even without quality teammates, and never once did he ask to be traded. Oh by the way, in case you don't know, he was 5-time MVP and 6-time Finals MVP. Kobe hasn't won even one. Now tell me who's better???

that was the stupidest argument ive ever heard,,81 against the RAPTORS wow im impressed.(NOT) it is a lot but once again kobe is a very good scorer on a pathetic team who throws up 100000 shots a game.. than the 81 against the mavs (yeah they play defense) jordan did it against the celtics..in the playoffs,, and had better players around him to score also.. if you put jordan in this era where defense isnt played and always in transition offense on the lakers in his prime ,wilt would not have the single game scoring record...

are we talking about just one game performances? or all-together? Here's why Jordan's better:
MVPs: Jordan 5, kobe 0
Titles: Jordan has the overall team advantage, so let's just not count that.
All-NBA 1st team: Jordan 10 Kobe 5
Also: Jordan was the scoring champ and defensive player of the year the same year. Kobe amazing, but Mike's just too good.

I hate to break your heart but I think Kobe forgot all about his teammates that game. Oh no! he just forgot that he had teammates in the third quarter. 81 points, 2 assist? what's so great with that, forgetting your teammates altogether just to score? What's more amazing is that Jordan amassed 45 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assist in only his 9th game... Did Kobe do that? He also led Chicago in assists, steals, and blocks in the in his rookie year (need proof? click on this link and award me the 10 points already: http://youtube.com/watch?v=wP-EIeGW4lk). He is the only player in NBA history to lead his team in all categories. And lastly Jordan's career high is 69. He did 63 points in the play-offs although it was a losing efort it IS STILL UNMATCHED even by the great scorer himself Wilt Chamberlain. As Larry Bird gasped "God disguised as Michael Jordan."

hmm, don't really know where I would start ripping your argument to shreds for Kobe's defense. Kobe does not even merit comparison to Michael Jordan. Jordan drills Kobe in every single career statistic and achievement there is. It's hilarious that you think two meaningless regular season games attest a player's greatness. lol

Please learn basketball.

You have lost your freaking mind!!! Michael Jordan was to basketball what the Yankees were to baseball. Kobe is an egotistical, adulterous showboat that cant hang without Shaq so he's trying to get on another team so he can ride a real superstars coat-tails like he always has, maybe the Pistons will pick him up.
