Laptops are made to be used in your lap. I have never seen a specification for what the angles are. Mine has been out flat against a wall, on its side. and in some fairly precarious positions. Angle of hold will not effect it's operability. Only thing might be touchy is trying to load a CD upside down.

No. The only part that might be twitchy for some odd position would be the hard drive and virtually all of them are now built so there isn't an up or down like there used to be on the bigger ones. Older desktop computers used to have warnings about positioning the drives face up, etc. If there is no warning feel free to hang it from the ceiling or on the wall while you are in hanging boots.

Just as long as the air vents at the bottom are not blocked. A nice flat surface would be perfect at whatever angle

you have to watch that the windows don't all slide to one side...
my laptop is never straight its on my knees at moment and no problems

No. With newer drives it isn't necessary to have them level, as long as they're reasonably still.
