Overrated, why?? Is it because they have one of the best pitching staffs in all of baseball?? A team that has Peavy and Young at the front of the rotation will never have a long losing streak. One of the two will pick them up, especially this season. They may not have the offense of some other teams, but winning 3-2 is the same as winning 10-6. I think they will win the NL West and be the team no one wants to have to face in the first round of the playoffs.

Maybe if they were in the AL East or AL West. Otherwise, no, they're the most dominant team in the NL. I'm assuming you're either a Mets fan or a Dodgers fan. Neither team will catch the Padres this year.

They have one of the best pitching staffs. That's not overrated that's pretty good considering they aren't the richest team in baseball.

while they are playing great baseball this year, i still, much like every year think that the yankees are the most overrated team. and sty"dee dee dee" ree, check the standings before you want to slam a team. not in last place, 2nd half team, and still in a race.

They lack offensively but they have one of the better pitching staffs in baseball, and that could be enough to keep them in the hunt all season.
