I have 3 teenage kids and all I hear from them is "I didn't hear you say that."

It seems like we do but honestly it's because we quickly forget things. Sometimes we think what our parents tell us is not a important/priority so we choose to ignore it. As far as telling you "I didn't hear you say that" it's just so we won't get in trouble for not having done what you asked of us. I say the same thing to my mom.

Yes. I was a teen not too long ago, and I remember being overwhelmed sometimes with all the things on my mind. You're under so much pressure all the time to get the best grades, excel in all activities, remain on the up-and-up with all of your friends, balance the always delicate relationship with a significant other. All that stress, and I tended to zone out a little. Good luck with your kids.

yes they do, it's so funny because they also act like they don't hear you tell them to do something and when you remind them they say ohhhhhhhhhhhh I forgot but if you tell them yeah you can have friends over in 3 months (just for example) they won't forget that lol to funny I guess you would call that selective memory
