I think I have to agree. The Eagles Hotel California is probably the best song ever.

Beatles are the best because they were very much ahead of their time and also any other band of the 60's. Probably nobody was able to catch up to them until this day. However that doesn't mean that the others weren't at the same level or sometimes even better. For example, The Zombies, "Odyssey and Oracle" is on the same level as Sgt. Pepper. if not better (excitement wise). Also, a heavy metal fan will probably make a claim that it was Black Sabbath who actually started it all, and from that perspective i ll have to agree with them as well.

Esoteric? Jesus, they sold more albums and held more records for Number #1 hits that just about anyone on the planet.
John Lennon STILL makes over $20 million a year and he's been dead for what? 20?, 25 years?
Back in the day everyone and their brother lost their freakin' minds for The Beatles music. A new Beatles album being released was like a mini-christmas morning.
Best ever? You can definately make an argument.

The Beatles were the greatest group of ALL time.Without them, music wouldn't be were it is today. If the Beatles didn't come along, there wouldn't have been no Doors,no Dead,no Stones...
They were in the right place at the right time. You need four wheels to drive a car and each of the Beatles was a wheel.
How can anyone NOT like them? From "I Saw Her Standing There" to "The End" and everything in between was absolutely awsome.
Did you know that the Stones got their start by covering a Beatles song? It was "I Wanna Be Your Man" and here's foor for thought-think what would happen if John Lennon and Paul McCartney never met.I still get a little misty eyed when I hear a John Lennon song because of what happened to him...

I think history has shown them to be the best pop band ever.
There is no way you could apply the word esoteric to the Beatles. They were almost as popular and famous as Elvis Presley himself! Have you listened to all their music? Have you read about the impact they had on the world in the 60's?

The Beatles were key in the start of the counter culture movement. They changed music from what we had formerly known, in every way, shape, and form.
They drew upon their experiences and wrote about them.
An entire generation was changed, cumulating in the summer of love.
I think they had a huge impact on music, and changed the way the world thinks.
They, along with the Rolling Stones, are one of the best bands ever.

Were the beatles the best band ever? I think they were one of the most influental bands ever, one of the most charismatic, media friendly bands and plus they were one of the first bands from the UK in the US..so of course that helped them a great deal! Just because they are a legendary band doesnt necessarily award them the title of THE BEST..best of what? Their Genre? Their time? No, not the best band ever..but instrumental to how Rock and Roll sounds today... Much like George Washington might not have been the best president ever..but the US wouldnt be where it is without him.

They were the best band ever: #1 and 50% better than #2 led zeppelin according to sales.
They weren't estoric; every teenage girl knew about them and I don't think that the beatles were trying to stay private and quiet.

Hi, again, once the really good stuff was written it went downhill fast. I mean Imagine was genius, and timeless. George Harrison blew me away, at 18, with My sweet Lord. But, over the years, McCartney can write a silly sentence, repeat it 20 times and make a billion. That ticks me off. Same for directors, they make really great movies for awhile and then get a once been to star in a movie and it really flops, that ticks me off. They may need to have losses to stay in business but doing it off us is criminal.

After giving this careful consideration....I would have to agree with the previous comment. The Eagles will forever be my all time favortie band, and the hit Hotel California still stops me in my tracks when I hear it!
