Much is going to depend on what the laws are where you reside and what the circumstances are as to why they are at your house; in some states an inmate can still file a claim against your insurance company/you for excessive bodily harm even if they break in.

As you have posted this question in a public forum and can easily be found and traced to your account by a forensic computer detective, it shows premediation and you can expect to be charged with felony assault.

Better solution is to find a better way to solve your problems in a non-violent, more mature manner.

Of course you can go to jail. Do you think you get a freebie cause they are at your house?
And don't misunderstand self defense. If you kicked someone's a**, chances are that is NOT self defense. You can "defend" yourself but once you become the aggressor, there is no self defense.

You always have the right to defend yourself, no matter what the location is. The trick is to let them hit you first, perhaps even twice for good measure, then let 'em have it.
