Geez, I would say we have more of chance of socialism, but not communism. Communism is more or less forced in, but given the growth of government...I could definitely see us become more leftist in nature.
I would think at one point we would start to move back, though. Europe is a good example of countries trying to figure out how left they want to go.
Granted latin america is very much to the left and most of our illegal and legal immigration comes from there. I would still say that general assimilation of the lawful immigrants would still leave us slightly leaning to the right. And the structure of leftist programs such as medicare and SS have a limited lifespan (due to their internal failures).
I'll give it a 3. With amnesty I'll give it a 6.

By threat to the American way of life, do you mean consumerism, over indulgence and capitalism? I'd say communism is not a threat at all. Take into account that the root of the word "communism" is "commun" as in "community." Communism in it's purest form has NEVER been implemented the right way. It has always been put to use by a dictator who wishes to gain power and wealth for himself/herself and not share that with the people of their country. Communism in it's purest form is the idea that the government owns and regulates everything we consume and that everyone earns the same. Now, that's not to say Communism doesn't have it's downside. I mean, if you could be a bus boy and earn as much as a doctor why wouldn't you just be a bus boy. Communism might just advocate complacency in that way. BUT the upside is that if you could go to sleep at night knowing that you and EVERY person in your entire country would have healthcare, a place to live, food and water, and everything else wouldn't you want that? The problem is that we've become a society of "me-firsts" we always want to feel better about ourselves because we have MORE that the other guy. Simply put, we're selfish. Society and the World at large should judge us by how we treat our less fortunate citizens. Jesus said "that which you have done to the least of those, you have done to me..When I was naked, did you clothe me? When I was hungry, did you feed me? When I was ill, did you nurse me?" The government shouldn't HAVE to take care of everyone, but they should WANT to take care of everyone because it's the RIGHT thing to do. We all do know right from wrong, don't we? Wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it, and right is right even if no one is doing it.

Communism, and communist no longer hold international prominence to the level where they would threaten the United States' Republican form of government. As we see China, and Vietnam driftig towards the free market, one can see how the ideals of communism are crumbling due to their inability to cope with the much more effective free market system.
To answer your question the threat is a 3
The better question is--- how much does the American way of life threaten the communist remnants.

the super majority of yankee human beings did and with reliable reason. The communists murdered hundreds of thousands of human beings in Russia (1917 -1933) , China (1949-50) or maybe Cambodia as previous due as 1975. One in ordinary terms has to look at photos of all of the piles of people skulls on show on the memorial to killing fields sufferers in Pnom Penh to experience the revulsion. The communists have continually claimed to be a proletarian stream this is on the element of working classification human beings. yet, working classification human beings and annoying artwork unions contained in america in no way have been fascinated in the Communist occasion. throughout the time of the early 1970's, there became an incident in New Orleans the place many dock workers (who have been unionized) easily refused to load grain directly to Russian ships that u . s . a . became advertising to Russia. an excellent type of the individuals who have been curious approximately Communism interior the 1930's and 40's have been easily state-of-the-paintings, college knowledgeable people who got here from nicely-to-do families. this is the suitable irony of it. those human beings have been oftentimes stated as "Parlor Pinks" as destructive to "Reds." pink became the renowned shade of Socialists (The Nazis used pink too) in spite of the undeniable fact that it became exceptionally the renowned shade of the communists. Parlor Pinks have been idealistic, knowledgeable individuals who oftentimes in no way joined the Communist occasion. yet, they nevertheless theory that it became achieveable to reconcile Communism with democracy and make it artwork contained in america. In different words, to have a communist society "with a human face." an excellent type of the human beings Senator Joseph McCarthy railed against have been the Parlor Pinks particularly than complete-fleged communists yet McCarthy made no distinction between the two. on the only hand, he became no longer an exceedingly impressive guy yet on the different, his fears have been nevertheless no longer completely unfounded based on the totalitarian practices and massacres of the communists interior the previous. on the same time as the Parlor Pinks enjoyed an excellent type of issues approximately Marxian and communist concept, maximum of them would not stay for extra advantageous than 3 months in a actual communist usa. they might nevertheless be seen too liberal and heretical via a actual communist dictatorship to have around. this is yet another irony with regard to the full element.

0 threat, communism is a dead duck; it imploded circa 1991 and not a moment too soon - communism or marxist - leninism was a gangster regime that fed its population fear and propaganda with a ruling elite of commissars who were the toe cutters for the regime
